Anyone know this 99 47 triple 500 in LOTO

It has been for sale off and on for a good amount of time. The price has been falling the whole time. Has to be the cheapest one for sale. I bet a real offer in the $60's would get it bought.

Depends on what your friend wants to spend... there is a 2008 47 with 525's in the OSO classifieds that is priced around $140K.. that is a ridiculously low price for that boat.. it was originally listed at $209... there is a 2007 with 600SCi's listed near LOTO for that same price that could probably be had for much less than that (that one I know a LOT about)..

Not a lot of 47's out there below $100K and if they are, better look VERY carefully.... the 47 is an AWESOME boat but it's everything times 3..

a friend bought an older 47 that was owned previously by a well known celebrity. get the hull inspected. this one was cracked up so bad i can not believe they didn't notice it getting heavy / taking on water during the sea trial. needless to say, it didn't go back on the trailer after the sea trial... lesson learned.

not bashing --- trying to be helpful.

note that the ad states "serviced", referring to drives, engines etc.... not rebuilt. with 400 hrs, it's time (x3). great shape for it's age, and even more appealing being a fresh water boat. good luck.

I sent an email, two weeks later i called and left a voice message, no one ever returned my 2 attempt...

Wishing you better luck!

It's hard enough keepin two motors right , cant imagine a three headed monster

abmotorman 01-06-2015 08:20 PM

What does this weigh? I imagine i'm not towing this with a 1/2 ton truck. :cool-smiley-027:

I called on that boat about two motnths ago. The broker dropped the price to 64k in about 2 minutes. He wants that boat gone. I got the feeling it had been sitting outside for years. There is also some comments about others who have viewed the boat on oso and they said it was rough. Lot of boat for the money if it worked out though.

jeff32 01-06-2015 08:59 PM

Funny to read when he does not even return calls or email...

joew. 01-06-2015 09:10 PM

And he was a dick:)

I also looked at the all white one with gold accents in Utah. That one is represented as rebuilt Teague power but when I talked to Teague he didn't know anything about it. Later the story was the parts were purchased from Teague. Still to much grey area for me.

The all white 08 for 139 is a deal, just out of my budget.

Also discussed here......

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/f...00-carbed.html

Haven't heard the full story (if there is one) but it does read well and the pics look good.

Good luck!

16500 lbs plus the trailer.. you need something that can tow 21000 lbs..

That 08 is a STEAL. The engines, drives and headers alone are worth 3/4 of the asking price and I bet that number isn't even firm. It made me sick to my stomach to see that price; I paid a lot more than that for my boat and I thought I got a decent deal. No regrets though.... the 47 is an AWESOME boat.. rides like a limo, turns a lot of heads at the docks and when it comes to the rough stuff, she handles it like a champ...

drpete3 01-07-2015 07:16 AM

This 47 has my vote

Ran-Dom 32 01-07-2015 09:08 AM

yep that boat is sweet! I'd love a 47, but once I think about how long it takes to clean & wax my 42 , then I think about 3rd motor as having a 3rd child to deal with, then I come back to reality :lolhit: , ok not sure where I'm going with this.. carry on

If I purchased the 08, you'd be pissed because it would pretty much evolve to look exactly like yours. I wouldn't worry about that though:)

salesdeity 01-07-2015 12:09 PM

Anyone ever convert these to a twin engine boat like I've seen done to the 47 Apache?

I bought some gauges and bezels off a guy here in St. Louis that did just that. Boat was originally a tripe 500 efi boat and he was converting it to staggered 800's if I remember right. Not sure if it ever got finished but the idea sounded cool.

The more the merrier... I'd only be pissed because you paid a lot less than me... LOL...

STACKS 01-07-2015 07:29 PM

Yes... heavy boat guys. I have an F450 to pull mine around and I believe an F350 would do it also but would be right on the line. Also.... on the motors. Reliability is a BIG deal with trips... I think that basically any Merc Close Cooled motor in a trip 47 configuration is a great choice. Nothing against the 500hp or 500efi platform at all and those were great motors. I ended up taking out my 500efi motors for trip 496 Mag HO motors with CMI Etops. Should have basically even horsepower because I believe that both the 500efi and 500hp were rated at the crank and the 496 is rated at the prop?

Price looks good on the 99.... but need to check out the motors in detail. If they need a rebuild you will need to tack on a TON to the purchase price. Basically, whatever you think it would cost... take that... and double it.... then double it again.

:fear:

jmoore1225 01-07-2015 08:32 PM

Stacks its actually the other way around. Blue motors are rated at the prop, blacks at the crank.

Hey, that sounds racist!! LOL

I've had many blue motors but these are my first 496 motors and was unsure of the ratings. You are correct on the 496 but the blue motor statement, unfortunately, is not that easy (thanks Merc). My 600sci motors were right on 600hp.... My 525efi motors put up around 570hp and have a true prop rating of 525hp.... and I did not put my 500efi motors on the dyno but from the factory they are sitting at 505 or 510 max which is so close it's basically crank rating.... I would imagine that the older HP500 put up even less at the crank.

With the 8% friction factor for at around 465ish Horsepower on my factory 500efi motors. My 496 motors stock are at 390/395 prop HP. How much HP do you think the CMI exhaust and K&N filters will add? I have heard the 40 to 60hp number thrown around but really unsure. If so, then I am very close if not even with a factory 500efi and/or HP500 motor.

They sound nasty for sure....

Hmm.... ok... who bought it???

Dan27 01-09-2015 02:05 PM

I'm not sure if you are looking for stepped hull 95 + but this one has been on LOTO craigs for ever! No step but 49k for a 47 seems like a smoking deal.

Ran-Dom 32 01-09-2015 08:08 PM

not the same boat as a 47 Lightning, but it is a lot of boat for the $$ that's a 47 SC

Meshikinquah 01-11-2015 03:23 AM

Nice looking boat. But those XR drives will not last with 800HP especially in the ruff.....
