Executioner | Swim Ladder

As I'm on the hunt for my first go fast, I looked at a 35' Executioner yesterday. Not thinking to ask the dealer while looking the boat over, upon looking at the photos I snapped, I did not see a swim ladder.

Is that not an option? What have others done or get out of the water?

Crude Intentions 03-22-2015 08:10 PM

Executioners did not come with swim ladders. That's a lightning thing. People have done different add on ones. The 42 ex may have had one. Not sure.

Someone had a thread going on this topic awhile ago about where to mount an after market ladder. I was leaning towards a Aqua Performance brand ladder if anyone has a picture or two of the finished results.

How do you get in and out the boat now while in the water? Use the outdrives?

I hung a loop rope from the rear rub rial to one of the rear cleats and it was do-able for most people - although not all. I finally broke down and bought one of those after-market ladders that mounts under the swim platform but sold the boat before I installed it.

Still have it - new in the box - if anyone is looking for one.

My buddy's 42 lightning (older so like the ex) has the one your talking about. Mounts under and his is between drives. Pulls down and is spring loaded up. Works nice. Only issue is if trimmed up tie bar is in the way.

Yes. My tiebar mounts across the top of the outdrives. So I leave them set around "4" and step on the tiebar. It works but still a pain ITA!

Does anyone have something like this mounted and if so maybe you could post a picture. It might make my mind up.

I've never seen a ladder mounted under the swim platform on a Fountain (other than pics), but I'd be very leery of that mounting arrangement. The swim platform is hollow and there is no way to get in there to put any backer / support. I'd be afraid that it would crack the fiberglass if not properly supported on the inside.

Crude Intentions 03-24-2015 03:28 PM

Fordf350 that's similar to what's on my buddy's 42. Works great with the drives down. Tie bar interferes when up. His name on the board is Oneanddone.

Easyrider his 42 is mounted under. Don't have all the details but no cracks and feels strong.

Ford350 ,
Mike is correct that's the one that has been installed on my boat since 2004 ... I'm 6'5 225 and never an issue like mentioned tie bar will not allow it to be lowered if drives are up. Very easy and retracts every time

Here's Bills (Oneanddone) boat

Looks good. Thank you ICU Lookin. I think that may have made up my mind. I have to do something to help the little women get in and out.

Will the tie bar hit this while running?

No It is spring loaded. Step on it and it goes down. Step off of it and it springs back up. Check out Aqua Performance web site there is a short clip.

Crude Intentions 03-25-2015 10:12 AM

Mummaiv no. Like he said this has been on his boat a long time and it stays tight to platform. The only issue is drives have to be down because of tiebar which isn't a biggie.

Could always put a second tie bar on with the saddles and use it as a step. I have a ladder on my cruiser. :)

On the Fountain, we just step on top of drives, not the cav plate.

I have been looking for a saddle tie bar for that purpose as well, I saw a boat on Boat Trader that had two bars and it looked kinda cool also I thought (more shiny stuff!). My guess is it won't hurt anything to have the upper tie and the saddle tie bars both mounted? The wife was complaining it was hard to get into for her and the kids that's what got me thinking.

US1 Fountain 03-25-2015 06:42 PM

Yep, 2 outer tie bars will be fine. Plus it looks more at home on a go fast than a ladder.

We find it easier to climb up the drives even on the cruiser than using the ladder. I'd guess I haven't used the ladder more than 5 times in last 4 yrs, and that was only to try it out and then for friends. But then its the type you slide out and lower, then gotta reach over to slide it back in. Just a PITA. The spring loaded one does seem slick though. But would the step be any lower than a 2nd lower cool looking tie bar on a 32?

Interesting... I think I will continue my search for a tie bar! One question though, do the "saddles" rock back and forth or do you tighten them down to a point where they can't move and stay upright? In pictures I've seen them rocked forwards or backwards and the brackets look like they can contact the drives. I wouldn't want to scratch them all up if that makes any sense?

US1 Fountain 03-25-2015 07:01 PM

They rock back and forth. Rubber bumpers underneath the saddle keep the metal saddles from contacting your drives.

Diamond Dave 03-25-2015 07:13 PM

That's a good idea thanks! I'll keep looking for a used one then... all I keep finding are TRS ones lately though.

Was there any concern about being able to secure it without worry of the fiberglass cracking or leaking

I don't know about the executioner, but the earlier lightnings are pretty thin back there. Send me a link and I will show you what I did. I made my own out of a garage sale ladder from a pontoon. It is not permanenet, but it works.
