Are Drives in mean Drives down ?
 

Gents ,

Have a little confusion about the trim tabs on my boat

are the drives in mean drives are in the most down position ?

So that means that when pulling the boat from the water then i have to have the drives all OUT ?

Yes my man, drives in means in toward the transom, out is up away from transom

its an odd way to phrase it I think, when the motion is up and down. Think of in as IN the water, out as OUT of the water

Very simple phrasing. In towards transom. Out away from transom.

And then you toss in the tabs, Up and Down.

I prefer Up /Down for the drives myself. Much easier. When on trailer and you want the drives raised and a buddy is in the boat, do you ask to raise them or out?

US1 is right .... It's ridiculous.... If the tabs are up/down so should the drives....... I hear people say trim up/down all the time.

It means tucked in or trimmed out.

If we get 100% literal the trim Rams on the drives are moving in and out as they are horizontally mounted and the trim Rams on tabs up and down as they are vertically mounted so it makes sense in that regard. However anyone who deals with hydraulics knows that Rams mounted in any position are generally referred to as in and out. So in all reality the could work for tabs too.
