Need some advice

I have had formula's in the past and my last one was an 87 SR-311 and I LOVED that boat. Some A-hole trashed it and I sold it but i'm ready for a new one so I was looking around. Well, I found a fountain instead. It is a 83 10 meter with blown 468's and what I believe are SSM#3 drives (doesn't say exactly). I live in Detroit and the boat is in St. Louis. It looks great and it's been quite updated i'm just curious if anyone has came across this boat and knows anything I should know about it. Thoughts please, even the negative ones.

Those look like speedy 2's, not a bad drive just kinda rare, but a spare set of trs' and bravo type props on hand is no big deal. For 22k obo and it checks out I can't see it being a bad deal.

That's kind of what I was thinking. It does not have a recent survey and I emailed them back and asked if I could have one done with it out of the water. Just waiting on a response from them. I think you are right on #2's cause I have sen #3's and #6's and the ones on the boat look different.

2's are getting hard to find parts for , when I had some on a 33 Fountain back in the 80's my experience was not good . There is a guy here on OSO now , who is having trouble finding the pieces to put some back together .

That cabin must have seen its fare share of skanks with all the laundry Bounce Sheets covering the bed.

I also noticed this older 12m in wisconsin, looks like a pretty clean boat/decent price

Was thinking the same thing lol

Well the drives on the boat work fine but I don't really expect them to last very long with 1300HP pumping through them. I would actually be surprised if I made it through the season with that power and those drives. I'm thinking I might baby it this season just to get through and then over the winter try to locate a good set of Konrad 540 or 540 PRS's to replace them with. Just trying to figure out if that is really worth it.

That is a really nice boat but I don't want something that big. I really like 29-33'. And for that price I can get the 10 meter and put Konrads on it.

They keep mice and other critters out.

Don't want to throw a wet towel

you are aware that it looks like some photoshop on the stern - not sure if that was to remove the name??

In the bilge -- there some pink -- what leaked out and when

all the best

Ya I asked about the stern and it was to blank out the name. I didn't notice the pink in the bilge so I will have to take another look at that and thanks for catching it! I've let it be known that I am going to be very thorough before I drive 10 hours there to see it in person and give it a test run. I just want to go there, check it, run it, and bring it home.

87Sr311, If you buy the Fountain and want to ditch the Speedy #2s, I might be interested in the drives. I had speedy 2s on my Scarab and fried them at the beginning of the last year. Id like to put some back on to make the boat original.
