1991 27' Fever Prop Discussion
Recently Purchased a 1991 27' fountain Non-step. Boat is powered with BB 509 with a bravo one 1.5 gear ratio. Currently running a 4 blade RH 24 pitch prop. Cruising speed 55 MPH at 4400 RPM. 74 MPH at 5200. Anyone else out there have prop suggestions, I am happy with the current results but have talked with some former 27' owners was going to try out a 4 blade hydromotive RH. Any Comments or prior experience with similar set-up would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!!

What brand is your prop, Mach, Bravo?
|
Most single engine fountains 27-29 run a LH prop. 74 is a good speed out of a straight bottom fountain.
|
Your numbers show a 6% slip. Don't think you'll ever get better than that. I wouldn't change a thing.

Bravo

Like ICU said, I'd take that all day long.

I run a hydro rh 24, 91 fever, 605 ulta tech, dyno 730hp bravo 1, works good, not sure how fast it will actually go as the lakes i run arent very big. Have seen 80 on the speedo at about 3/4 throttle. Old owner was an ex racer with much experience and he claimed it will run 85 in perfect conditions. This is my first boat and i dont have the experience to drive it through the chime walk to find out what it will actually do.
|
Also, i know im on borrowed time with the bravo 1 and my hp level, i could pull more prop but it works well enough for my needs and like i said, its my first boat. Bought it two years ago, had 231 hours on it, has 267 now.

I've heard the same about Hydros. It was suggested to go with a P5X, but you are likely to offset top end to get the benefit of getting on plane faster. There was a post somewhere (or at least I thought it was here) that someone used a ported 27 P5x which accomplished both. I'm waiting for a response to my PM to Brett from BBlades to get his thoughts.
