Looking at a 92 32.

Just sold my boat and looking at a 92 32 with 502s. Few questions and concerns. I run Lake of the Ozarks, and everyone knows how ruff it gets.. So Im concerned about how well this boat will run in the rough? Also concerned about how low they sit in the rear. This boat doesn't have the vent holes in the transom, which is good so water cant get into them. What kind of speed will this boat run with 502s? Has 600 hours on stock motors.

Any info you guys can provide will be helpful..

Thanks

I can't comment on on most of your questions, but will offer my thought on the transom vents. Sitting that low in the water shouldn't be an issue. I've never one. Coming off plane I was back off slowly so I don't get back wash. Sitting in the water there is no chance of water traveling that far up due to the angle. Good luck with your search.

I went from a 27 fountain to a 35 fountain. If it is in your budget try to go for a 35 instead of a 32. I heard that the 32 fountains were prone to sinking easily..not sure how true it is but it is because of how low they sit in the rear end.

also be careful of motors with 600 hours on them. They are more than likely at the end of their life. that is a good amount of hours on stock big block motors in a go fast boat. A rebuild or new motors is right around the corner I would imagine.

32 Fountains don't just take water though the vent holes, it goes through the hull/deck joint as well as around the exhaust holes.
Quite a few of them have had rotten transoms due to this, aside from taking on water in the bilge issues.

I don't hate the 32 Fountains, but they seem to be the most trouble prone of the legacy Fountain lineup.

If I were you, I'd be looking for something a little more substantial for LOTO.
Have you thought about a Baja 32 Caliber? This would likely be in the same budget category of the 32 Fountain.
I know of one in VA that lives on a freshwater lake. It's not for sale, but owner told me last month he will probably sell it at some point within the next year.

I agree with other feedback, Getting into something larger like the 35 Fountain, or maybe a 31 Cigarette, 32 Active Thunder, is going to be better for you. The 32' Fountain is really only 29-ish feet of boat and with twin BBC, it's going to sit REALLY low in the back, and will be tail heavy on all that rough water. You may find it a bit difficult to get on plane in rough water as well. I'd see the 32 Fountain as better for a flat water lake hot rod.

I don't hate Fountains. Mark Tuck's 42' was one of the most beautiful boats ever created, and the 42' Poker Runs are sick.

I sold a 93 336 Formula last year and I'm kicking myself for doing so. Member on here & BF bought it and loves it.

Sydwayz you are certainly anti fountain. Although you are very helpful in many areas you definitely hate fountains. Lol. I know you are big on/work for/actively promote active thunders however they are not without their issues as well.

To the op the 32 is a nice boat and yes by 1988 standards is a 29-30ft boat due to the molded swim platform. However any boat manufacturer after 1990-91 HAS to include a molded platform in LOA. Not Reggie cheating people.

I'm also surprised if they are prone to sinking you'd think they would all be gone by now. Also by the biggest boat that is feasible if a 35 works that will be a better boat. Lol
