which one?
Hello all, I am having a difficult time making a decision. I am looking at the following 2 boats....
http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...ever-102305792 and http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...ning-102550510 I like straight bottom boats, not a max speed guy, like reliability and simplicity. I am coming from a 2001 Baja outlaw 29 with stock twin 454 mag mpi's and bravo 1's. My boating is mainly done at Lake Minnetonka (law enforcement capital of MN), St Croix/Mississipi, and a couple of trips a year up to Lake Superior. I am also decent at using the search function but am coming up with nothing.... My ?'s. 1. Does anyone have any info on the above 2 boats? 2. I really like the idea of mild power and big drives, compared to the Baja, what am I looking at for maintenance? I will have a mechanical inspection done and will be present for sea trial/survey. Thank you in advance for your patience with me being green to all of this. Tjay |
35 vs 38. Fever vs lightning. The fever does not have the walk around. It does have a wider cockpit and that's why the walk around is missing. Of course it's bigger than the Lightning. #5 drives are great drives and 600hp is nothing for those. Interesting choices.

If you are not a top speed guy and don't want to wrench all the time, I'd find a later model 35 with 496's and lower hours. They are out there for a bit more then the boats you listed and you will have more time on the water. That's my opinion. If you are between only those two boats, Id go with the 36 which is now the 38 as mentioned by ICU Lookin.

Im with joe. Thats a clean boat with fuelie motors. Im not much on blower motors unless you are looking for speed. Stock merc power is hard to beat for trouble free boating.
|
I agree with ICU, the # 5 drive package is killer 50 hrs on the engines, 450 hrs on the hull is acceptable as long as its dry, all the pics Im seeing except the first are all blurry

Thank you all for the replies. I am definitely not afraid of wrenching, and I like the idea of a clean old school boat. Easier for me to diagnose and repair myself as far as engines go. I am also a fan of the SSM drives.
There are clear pictures of the 35 on pop yachts website. I have a little more thinking and research to do. Both boats are running what appears to be dry exhaust...MN is 84 db. Thanks again. Tjay |
I'd go with whatever one doesn't have the gigantic retarded looking wing on it. I'd keep your Baja before I bought that thing...
|
I like the old school radar arch,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, don't listen to keegan he doesn't even own a boat anymore!

You tryin to be a funny guy ??
|
If I had to pick out of the two, I'd go with #2, but I'm with joe, the motors themselves are worth a few $$$.
|
I would go with #2 also only because it's got the drives and motors. But #1 looks like it has a great interior. Can't see much of # 2. Let us know when you find #3 lol keep looking , it can't hurt

I like the 35. But wish it was a 38. If a smaller boat will work go for the 35. I think the 38 is too personalized
