Protecting the seams of vinyl seats

All,
I am noticing that some of my back seats are starting to show pulling at the seams.. People get in and out of the boat and step down on the back seats which put a lot of stress on the seams from the foot itself. We have some people using square cushions on top.. to I guess ...even out the pressure across the entire seat area.

Any suggestions in prolonging the life of the seats?

Evening out the pressure saves the seats. I have a small piece of plastic that is about 1/2" thick and covered with a real short knapp carpet. Measures about 14" x 24". It came with my boat from the Velocity factory. I put that on the seats for people to step on getting in or out. Stores easily in the side pocket when done.

This looks good for saving the seat seams and is priced right. Thinking of ordering one or two.

I heard this the other day when you redo your upholstery to use gortex thread. Haven't done research yet on why that's a better thread to use. Doesn't help with your question, just passing information along.

Make it 3, "Velocity boaters" are full of wisdom. Thanks for the website Padraig.

I used the square cushion religiously. 13years 800hours no problem. My last two boats had issues.
