What Should be top speed 35 lightning 525s?
I am looking at a 2003 35 lightning. Twin 525s with xr outdrives. 24 4 blade bravos. 125 hours. props just need to be shined up, little scummy. props turning outward. Prolly needs a tune up. Tattle tale only shows 82 mph.
I know this should go faster....What is top speed for this boat? With what prop set up? I know they need to turn in and boat prolly could use a tune up. Thanks |
I think most have bravo 32 four blades or Maximus 30 five blades. High 80's is common and I hear some hit 90-91.

Thanks. Thats what I meant...it has 32 4 blades. I suppose turnin props spinning inward and tune up could increase to say 90. Maybe with them labbed.
Thanks for the feedback. |
He could have also cleared the memory on the TT....

'06 525 boat ran 92 with non lab 32 Bravo 4 blades few weeks ago, 90 degree day, full of fuel, dead azz flat water, and two peeps. Has not run under 90 all season regardless of props bolted on, I have 3 sets. This boat has 300 hours on it and the engines have not had a wrench on them other that to change the oil and filters every 25 hours. It has run a best of 94. Lucky me! Got a good one.
If your props are turning out that is wrong on a Fountain, would have left the factory turning "in". Tune up? Mine is still on the original set of plugs, not much to tune on these engines. Most of the factory sheets I have seen on the twin step 525 boats show 90mph, most all of them left the factory with 32" Bravo 4 blades, not labbed. Some of the very late build 2006 boats, like mine, had some real high X dimensions, maybe that accounts for the higher top end. |
Very good. Thank u

What about 2007-2009 35 Fountain Lightning with Staggered 525's
I'm looking at possibly buying a 2007-2009 35 Lightnings with staggered 525's.
I know that they run 101-105 in theory. But I haven't spoken to anyone in the real world that has been able to run over 100mph. I've heard between 96-98. Is there anyone out there that has owned one, that can say they were able to get over 100 consistently?? Also what's the difference in performance between the ITS Bravo XR's and the regular Bravo XR's that don't have the extension boxes?? |
