Rotten transom

Yesterday was the day. I was so excited. My engine was dynoed, 585hp - 640ft/lbs of torque and a rebuilt xr drive, let summer begin! I decided to eliminate my silent choice so while rigging new exhaust pipes to the stock fountain tips a problem was discovered. The tips pulled right out of the transom and the cheap plastic rings fountain had installed were never sealed. No glass work sealing the holes that were drilled through transom for the exhaust, and not one drop of silicone at all, not one effort was made to try and keep water out when everything was assembled at the fountain factory. Such piss poor assembly, it's hard to believe these boats were sold to customers like this. I purposely had the engine and drive work done over the winter so i would have a full boating season. Is this worth trying to turn into my insurance company? Any ideas on an estimate for the work on a single engine 29? So frustrated!!

Since the motor is already out and it's only the transom needs to be done. 2500 to 3k

Class 6, Jason and the boys at performance did the engine and drive for me and have done a great job, such a class act operation, I highly reccomend them to everyone. They let me hang around the shop, watch and ask all sorts of questions as they worked yesterday. They had the drive and engine back in and were in the process of finishing the exhaust when the transom was discovered. The transom is far from completely rotted, but where the rot is located is the concern. The port side steering ram is mounted directly below the exhaust port where the water has been penetrating into for years and has rotted down verically to that point. It is a big safety concern there is no longer strength in that portion of the transom for obvious reasons. I know Jason and the boys will do a great job, it's just frustrating to see the crappy installation of the exhaust tips from fountain and was never right to begin with and I'm the guy that got burned. Lol. Sorry for the whining

I had the exact same thing on my 32. Also got the main and outer stringers.

We didn't discuss numbers, they will have to de-rig and open the transom up this week and go from there.

What did they get to do your 32? Just to give me a ball park, if you don't mind?

Had the same thing in 2010 on a 2006 my 47... Totally totally rotten from top to bottom of transom. Could not believe it!

Had same thing here with a 1997 32 fever. Rotted from the exhaust tips leaking. I installed different style tips. Tips that have a flange, that are screwed to the transom.
I paid $4900.00 just for the glass work that was need. I pulled the motors and drive and reinstall everything myself.
