Windshield gaskets
 

I'm in need of new windshield gaskets for a 2000 42 Fountain Lightning. Any one knows where to get them? Aside from Fountain that is....they want almost $1000 for them....

Taylor Marine Windshields

Do you know what years Taylor made the windshields? I've heard that some were Taylor and some Fountain in house. Also have heard that Taylor could supply the shorter versions if someone had the right product number.

The boat is a 2000 42 Lightning and has the original (tall) windshield. I have sent an email to Taylor..let's see what hapens. Thanks, Freealfin

I've read that there is a part number in the Taylormade windshields - lower rail on port side front.

I have heard this as well, friend was told this by a customer service person at Taylor. If someone out there with a short one could look might be a big help to all of us wanting to go to the short version.

I got mine from Fountain 1.5 years ago and they were under 300$. Not sure if we're talking about the same thing but here is a pic I got from Joanna at that time. I'm not sure if she's still there or not.

They are part of Baja Marine now and they just requoted at $600.00 (mistake they say) + shipping. Your pic is very helpful. Thanks

I could use a roll of the stuff that the glass sits in - I need to custom cut lengths.

I work at a manufacture of this type of product. We have an entire profile extrusion plant. For the money they are asking, I can almost make the die and extrude it myself. Send me a picture of the profile and I will see if we have something close (maybe perfect) I need the view of the end, not from the side. Like if you were looking through a pvc pipe. This is good info Joe. Unfortunately, my windshield is assembled, so I can't see the profile of the w/s. I posted on another thread about a guy who was cutting his down - asked him to take a profile pic, but I don't think he ever did.

If we could get a profile pic, I'm sure we could source this very easily. You've got a Fountain - wanna take one for the team??? LOL!

I have an 05 EX with a race farring. No windshields for me:)

I have thought about calling on the boat companies to get this type of business. Probably isn't the type of business I'd usually chase, but the meetings would be cool. I could make some custom colored rub rails, and all kinds of cool chit.

Great conversation here. Has anyone ever priced a short windshield from Fountain?

I have not. Have tried to purchase a couple other items and had difficulty getting a call back. It was always easier to find a different source.

I just happen to have a couple profile shots of the rubbers. U shaped one is the rubber the lexan sits in. The other one is an outside "cap" piece that fills a groove.

Yes, we have. .....$7,000.- and the info was conflicting

Joe..we repainted the boat and the color around the windshield is silver hence we are going to paint the windshield frame the same. Silver gaskets will be a blast!!!!!! We also need a new rub rail.
We live in Phoenix...you're welcome to come down and discuss it. I'll be sending you pictures of the gaskets ends and dimensions of the channels.

What do you mean by "the info was conflicting" ?

First email was the quote. When asked for individual parts the answer was "won't fit"
