3rd Battery and Charger
Currently my 32 has one starting and one house battery with 2 switches. I want to add a 3rd house battery for running my stereo. Would it be best to add it in parallel to my existing house battery? If so, how do you guys mount it? Any "kits" for this would be amazing. Really thats the only thing it will run, around a 2500watt stereo, no fridge etc.
also, I recently purchased a 3 bank dual pro charger. where do you all recommend mounting the charger? Im very surprised my boat doesnt already have one.... |
Use the Blue Seas Add A Battery Kit. It's an ACR. Then grab a battery box, a deep cycle battery, some marine wire and fuse(s). Some minimal wiring and you're golden. It's quite easy to hookup with the instructions.

Only issue on the 32 is where to put it. Like I said there was a guy on here that stuck them in the gunnels right where your doors are at.
That could be a spot, not the easiest to get to though. |
The best would be to wire it in parallel with an on/off switch to break the parallel. This will be beneficial when charging. The only way to use a 3 bank charger on 3 batteries is to have them isolated and each being charged by its own bank. If you charge 2 or more in parallel with one bank on a charger, the charger will kick off once the first battery is charged. Even with identical size, brand, and aged batteries, they will all discharge and recharge at different rates which is why I like being able to isolate them all while charging.

Im really torn on what to do, I really just want it to power my stereo to allow it to run longer. Also, since my charger is 3 bank (I got an amazing deal on it) Im not sure how to do all the switches and stuff myself. This is looking to be a bigger project than I had originally thought.
On top of all this, like wild man said, I don't know where to put the battery to make it look good/clean |
