Dead rise of 2000 38 lightning
Can someone tell me the deadrise of my 2000 28 lightning trying to order a transducer from garmin and they want to know the deadrise of the boat . I am installing a 7607xsv if anyone could provide me with the deadrise or what transducer to use it would be greatly appreciated |
Depends on where you’re installing it. Under the step in cabin is different than in the bilge. I’d figure out where you want it and then measure |
I am assuming I will put it in the bilge since that is where the existing one for my depth finder is. . How would I go about measuring the deadrise ? |
If it was the straight V its probably 24 degrees. Deadrise on the stepped hull is 22 i believe.
But, there are two schools of thought. Some people like to put the puck farther forward, like in the cuddy. I was always told the bilge is the worst place as its behind you. |
On later model Fountains, they are typically underneath the cabin step compartment.

If it is a step hull you have to put it in front of the step, if not as soon as you start to move and the steps starts to aerate the water it will stop working. Also don't shoot through the pad, its cored and wont work.
I am a little confused on why they are asking most transducers have adjustments so you can adjust the transducer to shoot straight down. I would look at airmar. I used this one on my 742xs Garman. AIRMAR |
