Stress cracks or more serious
I looked at a 27 fever today that had what appeared to be cracks/stress cracks on transom where hydraulic sterring attached as well as cracks on hull under motor. Should I be concerned? https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...61cdfeb610.png |
The transom is most likely very wet and will have to be replaced. I have never seen stress cracks on a healthy transom.

I have seen cracks like that in gelcote that is non structural and structural. Poor quality gel formulation. Common in older boats . Gelcote will flex without cracking to a degree.

This photo is the hull. I don’t have a photo of the transom, but there’s cracks right at hydraulic steering attachments as well. |
I'm not a fiberglass expert, but yeah I'd be concerned enough to keep looking for something else.

That would scare me away too.

Thank you for responding. It’s unfortunate because the boat is beautiful. Search continues |
If the boat is otherwise one you would consider then take things one more step and have a moisture test done. Then base how you proceed from there on the results. Might even ask seller to cover the cost or share in the cost in some manner.
