Fenders
We recently bought a 2008 38 fountain. Picking it up next week and don’t know what size fenders to buy. Any idea what size fits in the fender holders on the engine hatch? |
8x20 is smallest I'd go.

Honestly, I can't remember what size I have - but I do carry two different sizes. I believe one is 8" and one is 12" (two of each).
I am a " I like everything balanced" guy. When I had all 8" fenders, the boat wasn't parallel with the dock when properly tied up. The way Fountains are designed, the hull sides taper in quite a bit at the midship cleat. So I use the 12" at midship cleat, and an 8" at the rear cleat. That way, the boat is parallel with the dock when tied up. :-) If you can wait a bit, I plan on tinkering on my boat over the weekend, and I can measure the holders and fenders to confirm. Since you are in Michigan, I'd guess you can wait a few days. LOL Welcome to the club. TM |
The 8" should be fine most of the time, invest in one or two 12"er's for rafting, get covers for all to protect the paint ( I get real fussy because of the black hullsides). If you have the factory holders they likely are for the 8" versions.

I've been using these on my fenders last couple of seasons. I like them alot, as they dry really fast. Unfortunately, sometimes $hitty docks will snag the spandex material.

This ladies and gentlemen is likely the cleanest Fountain bilge in the world. Rob keeps his $hit tight! :-)

any ideas on where I can get the mirrors? I did mirror lexan/poly carbonate - but installed using same materials as Rob. |

Right!
I think I had Polyform covers before - but they seemed to stay wet longer? (...which is generally ok! LOL) Those that I posted the link to are thin spandex material and dry within an hour usually.

I have the Polyform covers on every fender on my boat, very much like yours, better they get snagged than the boat get f'd.
