38 Lightning Rear chine
38 Lightning looking at the rear chine past the second step on both sides. It looks like it came out of the mold wavy, meaning not a straight line. It looked like when you try to free hand draw a straight line with no ruler. Is this something to be concerned about. No evidence of repairs, gelcoat all matched, etc. other than that, ran like a champ. Thoughts?

I've never seen a fountain have this condition. What year?

Got a picture a little father away?

Boat is a 99, like an idiot, i did not take a pic of that side of the boat. I was too concerned with the wave. Looking at it from the side, it is not that noticeable, it is when you see if from this angle that it changes. The other side is the same along the other chine, maybe not that bad. Actually the second step before the chine also had a slight wave in it, you may be able to see from the pic. Again, there was no evidence of repairs that I could see, just does not seem like Fountain quality to me to let that out of the factory. But, it could have been a Friday boat!

99 38' should be a Fever not a 38 Lightning until 2000.

I doubt it did leave the factory like that. Alot can happen to a boat in 21 years.

Must be one of the 1st, the steps look way different than later models. Could be this was a very early build and there were "adjustments" made
I think they put the large steps in when they semi staggered the 38. Heck I have even seen semi stag 38's with the forward motor swapped from the other side. They played with everything. If you wanted it they would build it. |
