29 Fountain - best years to look at
I’m looking at getting a 29’ for Lake of the Ozarks.
It’s not the ocean, but it’s a pretty busy lake. Are there years I should be worried about? Years that have a stronger build? Thanks for your time |
Oh man people are going to jump all over this.
LOTO is said to be rougher then the ocean! |

Lake of the what? Never heard of it or it’s ocean/Great Lake comparable roughness. Now lake mead I hear is a monster. 😉

Good boats but big water not so good I stay inside most of the time!

1997 started step hull single or twins your choice? I have twins:readinghelp:

My 2006 29' Fever had angled footrests and drink holders which were nice as well as the Llvorsi gauges . I did not enjoy the ride in chop unless I was skimming over the tops of waves at 50+. I would recommend going bigger if you can.
The 29' is really more like a 25 after you subtract the beak and the swimstep. Mine was powered by twin 377s with Bravo 1:165 drives and 26 pitch props. All in all it was a nice boat. An honest 70+ mph ride. |
I have an 05 29 Fever and love it, however it does ride a little rough in the chop.
I boat in Lake Huron and it can get nasty out there. |
I think the OP asked for opinions on the best year for a 29, not if this was the right hull for the lake.
Since they are long out of production, I would suggest the latest model year you can find that passes all the usual inspection pain points. A late model, stepped, 525 boat would be my suggestion. |
