2000 35 lightning twin step shims on transom

Has anyone had a boat with wedge style shims behind the gimble assemblies? According to the paperwork from the test run at fountain shows 17 inch x demension with 3/4 inch shim. I have never seen that before.

Ive never seen a fountain with that before....wonder if it was built with a thin transom and they just put the spacers in there to get the right dimensions???

Nope, never seen that before.

I believe the transom is the correct thickness. Wher the y pipe hooks to the gimble housings has been extended so it protrudes through the transom. I am in the process of replacing the wood in the transom and trying to decide to run the shims or not. I will not be using the y pipe anymore going with dry to the tip exhaust. The original test run sheet shows 3/4 inch shims on the sheet. It has those shims on the outside and the same on the inside of the transom turned opposite to the outside to keep the alignment correct on the engines.

Call Reggie, send the report to him, he will likely remember. When I showed him pictures and the performance report on mine, he remembered and even signed the performance report.
