29 Fever Single or Twin Guidance

Been looking for 29/32 Fever. May have short list down to two 29's. From an experienced 29 Fever owner's perspective, what is the thought process in prioritizing one with twin Magnum MPI 350's or another with a single 500 EFI? Neither has selectable exhaust, the twin Magnum MPI 350's are straight pipe and the 500 EFI has straight pipe with Auquapower mufflers -which would be the louder/quieter boat?

Past work order for 29 500 EFI boat that received a top end rebuild and cam/cylinder head upgrades also states: "Replaced port transom and stringer". Does this give cause for concern or comfort?

Both have stepped hulls and visually appear in similar quality condition.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Replacing a portion of the transom would be a deal breaker for me

The single will fly better and land flatter. Twin is stern heavy and bow rises when jumping wakes/waves which can lead to hard landings. If you loose an eng/drive/prop/alternator/starter, your waay better off in the twin. Twice the eng/drive maint with twins but with 350's, access isn't be too bad. Twin will be easier to dock especially if there's a current and/or wind to deal with. A twin will get out of the hole quicker, especially if loaded. Twin is easier on drives. I'd say it really depends on how/where you plan to operate the boat. Personally, I'd be uneasy going offshore with just 1 eng.

I'm no expert on transom repair but the 1/2 transom replacement doesn't sound very re-assuring. How would you connect the old with the new in a way that would be as strong as original design?

I would assume the muffled eng would be quieter ,but, I don't know anyone that has mufflers. The big block will have a deeper, lower-frequency sound that some find slightly less aggravating.

"Replaced port transom and stringer"
What the heck is a port transom? Did they replace only a wet part on the port side?

Sorry..,hard pass on that boat.

Clarification: Spoke with the shop that did the work, entire transom has been replaced.

Value guides and asking prices seem worlds apart. What does this group see value wise for a 2003 29 Fever 500EFI, transom and a stringer replaced (I see that as a positive, won't need to be done again), no captains call, acceptable stereo including a triple axle trailer?

Have you purchased a boat yet?

No, still looking. Open to a 27/29/32, must be in excellent condition and prefer American stars/stripes scheme.
