Anti-Siphon valve in fuel tank question
Anyone know if Fountain installs a check valve at the fuel tank? I'm installing a Whipple system on my 27' and Whipple suggests removing any check valves/restrictions to fuel flow. Can't get anyone at Fountain-- they're all in Miami.
Thanks, Mark S. |
Yes Im sure they install a check valve. Its required by the Coast Guard. Its probably built into the fitting that comes out of the tank. Probably under an inspection plate under the rear seat.

Thanks Ron,
I'm reluctant to eliminate the anti-siphon because of the potential hazard. I'll get in touch with Dustin Whipple as this subject must arise frequently. Have you installed the CMI's? I've got my engine out, painted the bilge area with Interlux bilgekote ala Raypanic, enlarged the exhaust holes in the transom for Teague switchable tips, installed a GPS speedo, new red throttle and shift sticks and the heads are getting roller rockers, inconel exhaust and new stainless intakes. Full polish CMI elbow tops are replacing the cast boat anchors, and a new Optima battery. I've weighed the old vs. new parts and was amazed that close to 100# is shed with the new stuff. Also installing a Teague Platinum XR (full upper & lower). I plan on modifying my old Bravo with Max Machine Worx parts as a standby. I'll post some pics shortly. |
I "think" I recall where you can buy a larger size valve in order to flow the require fuel for the blower yet keep the saftey factor.

Breathe Later
I have a 35 Fountain with 500 HP EFI with whipples, I didn't remove the anti-siphon valves, ran all last season, maintained reccomended fuel pressure. Good Luck,,,you will love that whine at about 4000 rpms!!! |
Hey Breathe,
Tried to install the headers last week. The port side fits perfectly after a little trimming of the oil filter bracket. The starboard side does not fit well at all. The measurements are the same for the two sides so I think its CMI's fault. Looking at it it seems the starboard header is bent. The outlet is not square to the tramsom like the port side. So when I put the tail pipe on it misses the exhaust tip by about 1". Im shipping the starboard side back tomorrow. Par for the course with me. We need pics of your progress!!!! Ron |
