windshield mounting
Are the 3 pc plexiglass windshields just held with screws from the outside and no inside nuts, and silicone sealer in the w/s to hull joint?
Just curious if you just simply unscrew the panels to remove them. My fairing had silicone in the joint. |

In my experience the windshield is screwed to the hull. If a screw does not back out, it's probably stripped. Had a few on my boats that were.

silicone for sure!
I believe they just screw in to the fiberglass. The silicone is very important in keeping the lexan tight to the fiberglass and most importantly.....squeak free. If the silicone wasn't there the rubbing of the lexan and fiberglass would drive you nuts.

Thanks guys. I was HOPING that it was a simple screw on job. Haven't looked at one close enough. Need a few less inches to fit under garage door till season. Unscrewing the windsheild seemed like the easiest option, at 1st. The silicone reasoning makes a whole lotta cense.

How many inches??????? Maybe you can let the air out of the tires??? Just a thought;)

Jerry, the front windshield on a my 91' was thru bolted. Had to peel back the headliner to access. The sides are just screwed.

Will, not sure exactly. Last one I measured was about 6" too much. Figure most other trailers will be approx. same height, +/- a couple. Don't have anything yet, just thinking ahaed.
Charles, thanks. Don't think I want to get that involved with it. Had to ask. Have you been following the 731 vs 741 thread? Hopefully we cross paths again this yr on Cumberland. Jerry |
