Coming undone??Padding between rear seat and back,

I have a 2001 27 Fever classic, the padding strip between the rear bench seat and the backrest is coming out, the staples are pulling out from the boat?? I am sure it has been caused by guests sitting on the engine hatch and then standin on this strip?

Has anyone else had this problem??? and how did you fix it?? I am thinking of either just taking the entire strip out or replacing it with a removable one that will give when stood on.

Thanks

WILL:)

Are you talking about the long log like pad under the backrest itself? Mine never had a problem like that, but had seen one that did. As far as the fix, simple. Slap the guest feet! ;) Do your guest get in the boat soakin wet alot? Just curious if it could be from water running down and sitting in the corners under the bench seat and rotting the wood backing to where the staples pull loose. Just a thought.

Its not the wood, actually I think its stapled into fiberglass?? Not sure though. But yes its the log type cushin. I think I may just take it out totally, see how that looks. Then if not happy make one that is removable.

I know this is a common problem, I have seen other Fountains with same issue.;)

I Have a 2000 27' fever that had the same problem. The staples that hold the log against the lower back rest came apart.
You'll have to take the rear seat backrest out of the boat, there should be 10 nuts with washers that hold it in place, it's accessible from the engine compartment. Best is to make sure it sits and has a chance to dry out for a day (only if it's wet). Then take it to a automotive upholstery specialist and have them use stainless steel staples and re staple it.
You might want to put some thicker washers, the ones fountain uses were too thin.

Thanks, I will try pulling the whole back off, I knew I wasn't the only one with this problem.;)

Had the same problem in a 2000 32. Took it to a local Fountain Dealer, Fountain covered the cost to repair it. I had a young child that had been sticking her feet in the seam between the seat back and lower cushion. I am sure she pulled the staples loose. Lucky she didnt cut her feet.
