proping 35 fountain

Do any of you fountain owners have any Idea, what props to use on a 1997 35 with 525sc and extension boxes. I am not looking for all the top speed . Just a good all around prop.

Back4More 04-08-2003 10:45 PM

Im thinking maybe some 26"/ 4 blade Bravo 1's.

candyman35 04-09-2003 12:31 AM

My guess would be 28 to 30 pitch Bravo 1's or 27 to 29 pitch Hydro's. Was your boat set up that way from Fountain? I'd give Fountain a call. Ask for Jeff or Marty to get a starting point. 252-975-7007.

candyman, this boat came from the factory with this set up. the boat now has 28p Bravo's. I just sold a 1991 29 with blower moters that put out 536hp on the dyno, and was spinning 28p hydro's inward. The boat ran 84mph on gps at 5300. the 29 was on rails and would take any thing. I have not even started the motors in this 35, so I know nothing about the boat at this time except for the color.

Carney, do what Candyman said call Marty at the factory. He was very helpfull with my setup and is glad to discuss it. He is the rigger/test driver, nice guy and really knows Fountains.

how did your fountain handle w/ spinning in did you try both ways was it faster turning out or in?. i just got some hydros for mine and was wondering if it would be faster turning in.

carney 04-18-2003 07:22 PM

johnnyboatman, spin them in for the best top end, I did this with my 29, this 35 sticks tight to the water in the finger lakes. the water does not rough up enough to get this 8500lb in the air , but on the other hand I don't spill drinks.

Hell with the props, just trade her in on a a 16 ft. blue fin. The way I figure it we can take the motor out of Gary's boat and mod out the Blue fin. We'll get some drinks and make a Sunday out of it.
P.S. When you bought the Fountain did you get the complimentary pj's and gold chains from the new Reggie collection?

carney 05-07-2003 07:53 PM

need the speed, I did not get the pj's or the chain but I did get that large bank book . but why do we work you cant take it with ya. By the way I have never seen a prop come apart like yours. the local boat yard showed them to me monday. If I were you I would look into props that they use on those tugs, they might work fine on that boat you have I can not say the word. keep flipping.

Hey Carney,

I have some labbed bravo props that came off a 35 lightning with blowers. If you want to try them to see how they work PM me. I'll bet they are perfect for your set-up.

I was thinkin' maybe a 48" diameter 62.5 pitch. Ofcourse turning out..... Oh damn why bother, it'll never be as fast as the Blue Fin.

carney 05-20-2003 09:34 PM

need the speed , If you got passed be that little single engine fountain you may need 50 or60 pitch if you got enough motor to turn them.

Need-the-Speed 05-22-2003 11:47 PM

Smart a$$
Right now as we speak Sterling is working on a prototype 2700. On the Dyno it hit 3794.6 h.p. with a 4 lb. pulley. I just happen to be the Lucky recipient of a pair of those babies. The way I figure it, that tug of mine should run in the upper 250 mph area. I'll be able to hit Geneva in 4.32 minutes and only use 794 gallons of gas. You better start wrenchin'
