Staggered 38 Lightning

I am considering buying a 38 Lightning with staggered 575's. Anyone have any experience with these boats, just looking for opinions other than the salesmans

Thanks

If the 38 staggered is a good boat as you posted, what difference does it make where it comes from? Do you have a hidden agenda? Anyway no worries as of Saturday the boat you speak of was sold and for considerably more than your post suggests.

Hey Fountainpower,

Do you not like the staggard set up? With a name like yours I'd assume you would have the answers to the questions you have?? What hidden agenda would 105 have?? I called about the boat that DSM had and was able to check it out at a poker run...I was told that $180k would possibly get it. I guess that $5,000 is a considerable amount of money when talking about a couple hundred thousand:rolleyes:

Do I sense that you are an employee of DSM?? Or somehow connected?? And if you are I'm ashamed that you work around boats of this caliber and can't answer a questions as simple as theone you have...

Baja Daddy, the 38 staggered is a great boat. My point was simply that it was a great boat and even at the eventual selling $ a great deal. The boat was reduced to 199K at the SCOPE poker run. No I do not work for DSM My apologies if my original post was confusing. As far as answers I have already emailed the original post and offered any assistance he may require.

Depends on what you want to do with the boat - if you want a turn key trouble-free ride, than I 've been told that the 525 cost a lost less, gets much better fuel economy, is way more reliable, and only runs about 2 mph slower than the 575's.

However, if you want to boogie, then with very little effort the 575's can be made to put out about 650 hp and reach near 100mph in the 38 TS. I've heard the 38 TS is a much better balanced boat than the previous twins, but that it's very sensitive to weight in the boat. Heard it runs like 93 with 2 people and light gas, while only 83 with 5 people and a full tank. Call a fountain dealer and get the scoop.

hmm,, interesting,,
it does look like the deal might have fell thru.?
wonder what that thing should/could sell for..
someone said it has 230 hrs on the meter.. ign left on?? i guess computer would tell that story,,
i think it was advertised around 194 or something at the scope run.,

StrikinLightnin 06-24-2003 03:22 PM

Isn't that something,,,
DSM told me the boat only had 8 hrs. on it

Your original post suggests they had the boat at 175K and a couple of posts later it becomes apparent you offered 175K which unless you own the boat now?? I would say was rejected.
My only issue here is that the original post was asking about the 38 LTG Staggered. Which as I can see is in most peoples opinions a good boat. If this is indeed true, then what diffrence does it make where the guy buys it? He is from Ca so it seems natural for him to deal there. I notice also that in many of your posts you refer people to Bruce Bullock. While Bruce is a great guy he is not even a current Fountain Dealer. As far as dissappearing, there are a few people that just keep quiet until something needs to be said, and there are others that .......

105mph 38,
In a way I guess I work for a number of dealers( all of them Fountain) I am the Regional Sales Manager for Fountain. Bruce has not been a dealer since January by his choice.. I still stay in touch with Bruce and will help him look after his customers. Stopped by his new office this week in fact.
I appreciate all of your business and my goal is to have a strong network of reputable dealers to service your needs. I would love to post more but time premium at this time of year. ( I am sure you understand) Feel free to contact me if I can ever help you out.

Just contact me and we will try and hook them up with the dealer that is closest to where they use their boat. There are new dealers in Austin, Dallas, and even a fishboat and cruiser dealer in the Huston area
