Rub Rail Question
Anyone got any tricks on how to remove and reinstall the rubrail insert on a 2000 29 Fever. I would like to reseal the rear section. Thanks.

Use a heast gun to heat up the insert - you can then easily squeeze it in the rub rail track. If you are doing the whole thing, put the roll in front of a heater and pre-warm it up. I replace the insert on my 38 every other year. Takes about 2 hours to do the whole boat.

take a 5gal bucket perferable one with a lid with a spot, and coil the insert into it. fill it with hot water, let it stand for about 20-30min. poor the water out and then refill with hot water. put the lid on a pull the insert through spout get it started and use a screw driver that has had the edged ground down, and you can just about walk around the boat putting it in that fast. have someone walk with the bucket or put it on a cripper oor trash can holder that has wheels.
later been there done that |
I did the heat gun thing just a couple weeks ago. Worked great, but you gotta move fast. It doen't take much heat to make the insert very rubberyyyyyy.
