Fountain styling

Has anyone heard if Fountain is going to update their styling? (dash boards and interior) Seems to me that they are stuck in the 90's and I really noticed it at this years Chicago boat show. Even as I page through Powerboat mag it seems others have some nice styling but not the performance of a Fountain. Is it asking too much to have both?

Part of what I like about the Fountains is their timeless style. I personally like the dash and cockpit layout and design. They have made small refinements over the years without redesigning everything. The Fountain dash and interior is as unique as the beak, part of their character. It is this same reason that I used to like the German cars so much, now they too seem to be following suit and redesigning every few years although not as quickly as some of the Jap cars. Why does everybody like the Cig and Apache so much? Great boats and distinctive styling. Each to their own.:)

Nicely put. The clothing line is another story.:p

the Fountain dash is one of my favorite, it remminds me of a race car dash, no moulded crap, everything right where you can see it. Simple, yet functional. The same can be said for Cig, I really like the dashes of the Gladiator.

The boats all remind me of a sports car, low freeboard and no BS.

Reggie needs to mix up the colours alot, I like the multicoloured interiors of the Cigs and OLs, Imagine a Fountain with a orange interior!!...or all yellow...wild!.....I like the dash, they're timeless. but a spot to mount a simple cd deck IN THE DASH!!! would be SO MUCH SIMPLER than a deck in one spot and a six pack changer in another and a stupid remote to operate it all that doesnt do all the functions that the deck can do.......gimmie a BREAK!!!.......IN THE DASH!!!!!.......And MY GOD couldnt they add some sort of integrated steps for foredeck access instead of climbing on the seat and doing a ballet dance over the windshield or worse, climbing out through the hatch!!!!....Cmon Reggie this is 2003 GET WITH IT!!!!! (sorry guys, some pet peeves) but actually the majority of manufactures do a poor job on this also......all in all I wouldnt change much, I love the beek and that ass down attitude............pure Fountain............doug:cool:

Guess they spend too much time on tweaking the bottoms...:p

Fountains ARE timeless. I have a '96 and it seems like every run I go on there's someone who asks if it's new.
I do recall seeing some pictures recently of dash panels with wild patterns, so maybe they're slowly following the trends.

Has anyone noticed they aren't putting the "Dune Buggy" steering wheels on some of the new models this year? That's the only thing I don't like about my interior.

While I'm on the subject .... Has anyone replaced their steering wheel? Where can I get a new one and do I need any kind of adapter for it to fit?

Von Bongo 07-18-2003 05:58 PM

I had a Dino with the stock set up and a Momo with the hydraulic both on my 27. I think it took a standard 6 bolt pattern.

Heres the dash from a friends '04 38. The Classic look. I love it!

BAJA WILL 07-21-2003 07:29 AM

I plan on replacing my steering wheel, I will make it a gift for myself one day. Plan on getting a purple one to match the bezels.

Will;)

I take back what I said. That 04 looks awesome in the new 38 unveiled thread. You guys are right about the classic look. I must have been having a bad day.

pullmytrigger 07-21-2003 08:48 PM

nobodys with me on the foredeck access??....maybe its because I boat in a very beautiful but rugged and rocky area (actually an extension of the thousand islands)where it is not uncommon for me to go through 6 or 8 locks in a day, the crappy fordeck access bugs you after awhile with all the tieing up and untieing........ :( :)
Or maybe you guys are all so rich that you have pre arranged people at every stop to help with all the mundane tasks like tieing up the boat.....:D ;) :D

The Lightning's have the side walkways. No tripping over the windshield!

You can walk around the windshield on this 38.

There is a step on the inside near the rear bench seat. Then you just step over the side of the windshield and there is a ledge that you can walk around.

Its kind of hard to see in these pictures because the deck is so high when the boat is on the trailer.

29Fever 07-23-2003 09:12 AM

You can't do that on the Fevers. I hated the balancing act I would have to do to get up on the deck. I didn't wax a small spot just in front of the windscreen just so I wouldn't slip and bust my a$$.

I also don't like the helm. I love the look, but I don't think it's as functional as other manufactures. I felt like I was looking around the steering wheel to see the gauges.

Padraig 07-23-2003 10:41 AM

Seeing as I don't own a Fountain, this will most likely get me in trouble.;) Does anyone besides me find the bolsters to low? They seem to end at my lower back and I am only abour 5' 10". Although I haven't had the opprotunity to drive a Fountain in rough water it seems as if they would not give the support I would like. For someone over 6 foot the Fountain Bolsters would really be short.

I am not trying to bash Fountain I just want to know.

pachangalpina 07-23-2003 02:58 PM

Padraig, Have you seen how tall Reggie is?
:D

pullmytrigger 07-23-2003 04:58 PM

Pachang- you beat me to it..........

Yes I have and I also noted that he dresses funny! :)

I still want to know.......if you are of average height and don't have to sit on a NYC phone book to drive your car, do you get beat up in the rough stuff???? :)

epeek 07-25-2003 08:23 PM

I have a 32 fever & I think the bolsters are low!!
I like to drive standing, but it gets uncomfortable
so I drive sitting alot.

Padraig 07-26-2003 05:42 AM

How tall are you? I assume that it is taller then Reggie.

Jana 07-28-2003 06:39 AM

It does depend on the year. My friend's 35 is a few years older than my 29 and he has the bolsters that you push the head rest to release the seat bottom. They're lower in the back than mine, which are the electric ones. I love them, but then, I'm a couple inches shorter than Reggie! :D
