fountain beat by outerlimits

Well what is Riggie going to build for 2004 after being beat by the Outerlimits gang. I was told he was upset after the shoot out. I have never had the chance to ride in a outerlimits or even drive one , but at the poker runs they look like one good boat.

I'm sure Reggie gets SOME kind of feedback from what transpires on this site. I'm equally sure he gets the message from this board, even from those who are not enamored of Reggie personally, that he is expected to mount a serious bid to recover the V-hull kilo record that he (Fountain) has owned for SO long. OSO influence notwithstanding, OL's possession of the record can be measured in weeks. The Fountain record stood for YEARS. He'll get it back. Or die trying.

We have not heard the end of this.

FOUNTAIN_CHICK 12-01-2003 08:05 AM

FOUNTAIN IS AND WILL ALWAYS REMAIN #1.

pullmytrigger 12-01-2003 09:29 AM

Roux- Agreed big time....Fountain has had that record for so long it was kind of boring......and he doesnt even bother plastering "World Champion" on the side of his boats, if he listed them there wouldnt be enough room

Jana 12-01-2003 12:03 PM

Agreed! Bet we see him bust 150-mph by more than a little.

105mph_38_2003 12-02-2003 01:16 AM

What would it take to gain the mph needed to get the title back?? New hull design? Different materials?? What king of engineering marvel would it take??? plus would Reggie spend the $$$ to get it done?

Back4More 12-02-2003 07:59 AM

Just take a production 42 and drop in some silly 1400hp motors and it should get the job done.;)

GATORONE 12-02-2003 10:55 AM

Fountain is testing a 42' sit down boat with no cabin as we speak.

What power did the fountain have that originally set he record??

GATORONE 12-03-2003 09:09 PM

The sit down 42' ran 134 mph with the new merc 1075's and is expected to run close to 140 when they are through.Direct from Reggie

Later, I have a 35 with 525's and ext boxes. We love the boat. The hour meter shows 112 hrs when I bought it , we put 80 hrs on it this summer. The port motor had a pop out the carb at wot. I knew something was not right so started looking, found the 1st owner had pullies that put the boost to 10 psi with no coolers. And the timing was 45 degs at 4500. I put the pullies back to stock and timing to 35. Still at wot once in a while the motor would pop. I finished the season, did a leak down test and found the heads and rings were shot. Took both motors out went all the way through both, New rods, mains, valves, valve springs, rings, gaskets, rebuilt the carbs and serviced the blowers. The motors are back in the boat, I have to hook up the drive shafts and put the blowers back on. I wanted to finish it today but we got snow. I would like to run them well before spring so if I have messed up I can fix them this winter instead of during boating season.

525's are great motors im sure that the 35 runs strong with them. the 35 is a awsome handling boat surprises alot of people
