I have an 04 29 Fever w/ 525 XR drive. I don't know about the standoff box but mine is box stock equipped from the factory.
I can get 83 mph on the GPS speedo, loaded with 3/4 tank of fuel, one other passenger & a 1/2 rack of beer & ice.
I only put 8 hours on it before I winterized it so the 3 times I took it out were awesome.

did they ever fix the swamping issue or was that just operater error. This is my biggest concern. I looked at the 35ft execusioner with twin 496s but it was real big dog out of the whole.

thanks for all your help

I have an 04 29 with twin 6.2's and run 71 with stock B1 26" props. Just had the props labbed and increased the pitch to 27" but have to wait til spring to check the results. I am sure my boat sits lower in the stern then a single big block and I have not had any problems with leakage at the rubrail, I think the factory solved that problem with a different sealer compound or just more of it. I agree with Mike on every point...especially that she wants to go fast when it gets nasty. Also, the twins do not like speeds between 25-30, falls off plane and alot of work to drive. Good luck with your selection!

That is probably a great combination of boat and power. The 29 has a bigger gas tank than the 27, that would be my only complaint on a 27, I can burn 60 gallons pretty damn fast. As for speeds, probably looking at 76mph reliable.

Tell me about the "swamping issue".......

I believe the swamping issue was with 32's with big blocks. I suppose that a 29 with twin big blocks would also sit pretty low. Check this 32 with 502's.

Mark D 12-20-2003 07:17 PM

OK, thanks for the info.
My single 29 should be ok I hope. The boat will sit on a mooring buoy on summer weekends. There are no wake restrictions in front of my place & I am nervous. Big boats go by throwing huge wakes.
I am nuts about my bilge dry, especially in the salt water.....
I noticed in the whole 8 hours I put on the boat I would always have a bit of water in the bilge. I would wet vac it out on the trailer & then it would reappear when I launched it. Side vents perhaps underway....
The term "swamped" spooked me..

Mine gets water in the bilge only when I put in in off the trailer, through the rear blower vents. I am sure it would be fine once you get in the water. The bilge pump should take care of any Hatteras sized wakes when you're not there.

There is at least a foot between the water and the vents at rest with a 500. I get a little splash on the sun pad with a really big wave if I'm sitting on it but it drains out lip, not into the bilge.

Mark D 12-20-2003 11:47 PM

Thanks FM & FC,
I suspect it is the blower vents at extreme angle when I launch it off the trailer.
I have watched the bilge & it never gets any worse, it's like less than a gallon or so.
Anyway, I'll re-evaluate the situation in April when I dewinterize.....Geez that's a long ways away.

Happy Holidays Guys.

gferdon 12-21-2003 07:11 AM

You could stay aboard and check the vents while the boat is being launched...that would determine if the vents are the culprit. I trailer my boat for every use and get 0 water in the bilge at any time and that's with the twin small blocks. Good luck and a merry and a happy! I too must wait til April so I know what you mean.

My solution

PurePower,

I keep my 2000 29 with a 500efi/whipple on a buoy on Lake Tahoe all summer. Yes, you will get water in the blower vents while on the buoy when large wakes or the chop gets around 2.5-3 feet. My solution is compression plugs in the vents when the boat is on the buoy. They work perfect. Just don't forget to pull them before you fire the blowers. Here is a link to the place I got them at:

Search for part # 24576 or go to page 727 of their catalog. The plugs fits like a glove, and are very heavy duty rubber/aluminum construction. I believe they are around 35 bucks each, but they are worth it.

Other sources of water in the bilge not metioned previously, trim tab thru hull parts, steering thru hull parts, the built in cooler in the cabin (when your ice melts).

Good luck with your new ride.

well we wnt and looked at the boats today. the 29 ft is nice and the 525 fits in it like a glove. It has the new merc. its stand off box with a bravo xr drive. Should be a nice ride. The one that caught my eye also was the lighting, it happens to be the one that power boat magazine did the artical on. twin 575 blown, chillers bigger injecter ecu upgrade and ran 103 with the wrong propes. He will be doing the numbers on both and then the best deal will be in my driveway.

Thanks guys and hope to see yall on the water.

My 32 sits the same way. I can't help but wonder why Reggie even let this boat out the door with the higher than normal risk of swamping. It seems like it could be a huge liabilty gamble. On that note, I will say I never had any problems with water over the back. Just the normal splashing on the swim platform, very rarely a splash onto the hatch and the water running in and out the vent holes. But then I don't boat on BIG waters. I think the 1st weekend I had it in the water, I watched it like a hawk! I also have never heard of one being sunk.

runnin gun, good luck!

502,
Thank you for the link, it is just what I was looking for. I will get on it, as Fever Mike states, I was looking for something to stuff up there while launching & on the buoy.

Runnin Gun, good luck on your purchase, let us know which way you go & take pics!

Happy Holidays,

The 35 Executioner rips with 496s in it.

Marginmn 12-29-2003 10:29 AM

what are they asking for a 35 exec on a trailer with 496's?

Mark D 12-29-2003 03:25 PM

Hey Mike, no, no 35 X yet.....I had the chance to check out my dealer's demo 35 X. What a great package for the $.
Below is the test done on the boat.
