where can halon bottle be filled
Any one know where the big red bottle can be fix and filled? I had the motors out of my boat . The bottle sat in the shop for 30 days ,I put it in a spot where it would not get broke. My wife came in and dropped something on it and it went off. I thought she had shot me with one of my own guns. they make one hell of a noise. I called kiddie and they want $225.00 to refill.

If I'm not mistaken, they will not refill an aluminum bottle. Only the steel bottles are refillable. I found that out after mine went off invertinly. I had to replace the entire thing. I can't remember if the new one is Kiddie of Fyreboy but it's a red bottle good for 150 cubic feet filled with FE241. They sent me two...long story but it was to costly, so they said, to send it back. Thus I have an extra. I would love to make you a deal on it but I'm not sure how to get it to you.

Mine is the big red bottle, What ever she dropped on it she broke that fuse link piece . I know I can replace that I see the fiters at work with the the same head. I must make sure the degrees are the same. but then must find some one to fill the thing. I have no Idea how you would ship them , with out getting hasseled . I may have to spend the big buck. As for the sending unit, I think all that does is tell the indicator on the dash that the bottle has pressure. I have disconnected the wires and put them together and nothing has happened, but the green light goes out. I do know that if you take the unit out yours will be empty like mine. there has to be some one that can recharge them other than Kiddie.

It is illegal, under federal law to refill ANY Halon fire extinguisher.
FM200 or other Halon substitute can be used to extinguish a Class B or C fire. |
