Questions about a 29

Hi folks, I'm looking to pick up a used 29 and like the idea of the twin big blocks. Why aren't they offered new that way any more? Did they have problems ? And are there any common problems on these boats I should look for? Thanks for any help.

Fountain Problems???

None that I know of ...Two things that might be ,,,(1) power to weight ratio the two engins are a weight issue in a smaller hull but do look and sound Awsome!
(2)fuel comsumpton other than that no issues that I have heard of. Do know of a few local 29s for sale in Nh
1 has twins and is (or Was ) at channel marine in laconia
Nh and the others were at a few other marinas on the lake.. I will look them up If you want..
Hope this helps.
Bob
I also Know of a 27 that might be for sale

steamfitter, I had a 29 with twin 454 blower motors. the boat was fast and a hand full at w.o.t. The only problem I found with the 29 with twins is that the weight of the motors made the boat set so low ,that the exhaust was to close to the water. I installed high risers to eliminate reversion. I also took the silent choise system off and the Y- pipes to lift the transom. But all in all that 29 was a lot of fun.

I just sold my 29 with twin 502 EFI's for 36,000. to give you a idea on price. But that boat would shoot out of the water and stand up!!! I completly stood it up twice, that was enough for me. I would look at a 32

This could be a good deal.

Another problem. Do they still offer the 32 with twin big blocks? I know used ones are readily available but I thought new they were only avail with twin small blocks. Heard it had to do with the swamping issues:confused:

Bob,
It was Trent that fixed me up a yr ago with my current boat with a separate dealership. Sometimes I don't know whether to kiss him or punch him. ;) :D :D
Trent is a great guy. He'll work at selling it.

Todd,
No BBC in 32's anymore. How many 32's have you heard of being swamped? I don't know of any.

Thanks Jerry

I have heard of one 32 that swamped but it is hard to say what the real cause was. I had my eyes set on a 32 with twin BBC but ran across a deal on a 38 Fever and the wife said lets get it. I still have not figured out why they removed it from their current line-up.

What year was the 29, sounds like a good deal.

They stopped making the 29 with big blocks for that very reason! I still like the boats though, very fast!

It was a very clean 1993. I turned down 45000.00 in June.

The boat was a rocket but I Had A deal on the 42, I couldn't refuse!

I have a friend that loves his 32, I don't know if they still make new ones.

Jana 01-15-2004 11:59 AM

The 32 is in the latest ads, so they may still be making them.

pachangalpina 01-15-2004 09:59 PM

the 32 is still current but why did they drop the 38 Fever?

Probaly cause it is a pain to get over the window just to dock the boat. Thats just my guess.

Tricky919 01-16-2004 07:26 PM

I just traded my 28 Pantera with twin 496's in for a new executioner, I had the same problem, the boat was tail heavy and would fly the nose, scary at times, i would have to run a lot of tab in it to keep the nose down.......
