Looks like a great boat to retire on!!!

Rippem 01-14-2004 08:25 AM

That would be one of the boats that had a hand in making the "bailout" necessary isn't it? :D

tomtbone1993 01-14-2004 09:34 AM

That is sweet!! bigger than my Fountain:(

Did someone finally buy that? I looked at it at the Miami show a few years ago. Kinda sparse for a 65 "Cruiser Yatch" . but still not bad. Was a little too pricey though for what it was.

BeakBoater - what are you driving now?

How would you compare your Fountains to your new boat? What Fountains did you drive?

Beak Boater 01-17-2004 01:45 PM

We had a 27, great boat for lakes and intercostal waters just a little small for where we boat, even though we are on a the Potomac river, which is intercoastal it gets a little rough from time to time. The 32 was a really fun boat. Twin 500 H.P's ran in the mid 80's on GPS, accelerated very quick which made it hard to beat on those informal river races. The balance wasnt perfect, had a tendency to fly bow up if you did jump it out of the water. Mantainence on the motors if it was anything other than changing oil was a pain. Had one shop tell me not to bring it back to them if I wanted the spark plugs changed again. It was impossible to reach between the motors to get the inside plugs. Our 35 twin step was just about the perfect boat. I know the windshield isn't real popular with the hardcore offshore crowd, but it came in handy and you could hold a conversation going down river at 55 without yelling. It had 500 H.P.'s EFI but the acceleration was a bit lazy for me. Boat handled like a sports car, was almost perfectly balanced and was very fast for stock power in its day. 2000 year model and ran 88 mph on the performance report. After putting whipples on it and some other work I cured the acceleration problem. Now have a 37 OL with 6's and 1000 H.P. KE power bought it at the end of the year and havent had time to really run it to compare except to water test it at the dealer. I'll let you know when I get some seat time.
