Proper Proping for 35 Lightning

Need to know your experience with propping a Fountain. I have a 1993 (no step) with 525SC.

I was running 80+ with Mach 14.5x28 4 blade with standard Bravo I.

Had to switch props because of new prop shaft diameter(XR drives) change. No hub was available for the Mach with larger prop shaft.

First attempt is a Hydromotive 15x27 4 blade. I've lost 7mph in midrange (3500)! I can't run WOT yet due to drive breakin!

Can anybody share their setup and results on a non-step 35' with similar (more-or-less power) setup? I am trying to find the right prop with the minimum number of exchanges with Hydromotive.

Any help would be appreciated

Have you tried to contact Houston Prop, or Throttle up? Both are extremely helpful.

Fountains run well with Mach props..

Hydro's in stock form usally give higher top end but less in the middle.

Labbed bravo's are closer to the Mach.

Follow JR's advice and talk to some prop people they can rebend em to get the most out of them

i have a set of props labbed down bravo 30's that worked really good on my 35 non step with about the same hp ..
also have a set of labbed 28 hydro's that work really good on it too, both sets about same speed just handled diff. both sets are cherry.
i have ran just about every combo and this is what i like and run em out, i think by the time all labbed etc its a toss up both work really good, mid range on the hydro seems better and in the rough i think i lke the hydro better,
my o2 after spending a chit load of dough.
boat is sold so gonna sell 1 set of these.

My '86 10-Meter (no steps) has HP500's, TRS, and B/W trannies. Running Hydro 28" Q-IV's, and tops out at 80mph. Holeshot is good, and no screwing with tabs/drives to get on plane. 50-80 acceleration is awesome.

Thanks for the input. I am going to try some 28p Hydro Quad 4 and see what happens.

I think the speed loss was a result of increased prop slip and reduced pitch of the Hyrdo.

u will need to lab em to get the rpm as i did, worked great when done
