Reggie needs boxing gloves

Well what does all think about the new article in power boat, Between mike and reggie ? I my self think that mike builds a nice boat and someday he may have as many wins as Fountain and be on top . But there is no records to be held at poker runs, they are all in fun . In racing when the green flag drops the BS STOPS. I would spend more time trying to be and have the best , Instead of slamming the best. This boating is one hell of a sport , and about the only one left where a limited amout of rules apply. Dont weck it for the rest of us. If speed is where it is at . Lets see sanction speed runs then the winner can print all they want and have the paper trail to prove it.

Downtown42 04-11-2004 05:19 PM

I don't think there is another boat that has more wins than FOUNTAIN. Enough said.

jeff bratton 04-11-2004 05:59 PM

i see OL , along with a few like Sunsation. have "World Champion" on the sides of their boats. Im sure they must have won something? anyone know what? I kwow Cigarette has won in the past.

10x 04-12-2004 03:50 AM

When you're on the top like Reggie is, alot of boatbuilders will use you as their target to try and build a better boat than yours. Has anyone done it??? I don't think so, at least not dollar for dollar, best boat for the buck.

OL builds a very nice boat, but personally I would rather own my Fountain, even if they were both priced evenly the same. I can't see why anyone in the right frame of mind, would want to spend 3 times the money, more for an OL. I know OL ISN'T 3 times a better boat. I don't even think they're a better boat at all.
Sure, they have a more fancier paint work than Fountains, but you can get a Fountain in the white and put any paint you want on it too.
Oh, sorry, I must have forgotten about the corian counter tops. Well, if I want that, I'll stay at home and sit in my kitchen and look at them there.

There must be a reason why OL hav'nt won any races on the pro circuit. Can anyone figure out why???

blownincome 04-12-2004 06:12 AM

The only OLs Ive seen in races have been pace or flag boats..(other than Prs) why Power boat would print such
a one sided slander is beyond me?? would have been great to hear Reggies response to why they(PB) ran the fastest V bottom ad when its not documented... maybe they should try to drop a OL from a cliff and watch the GPS might be a great test! may be the response from Reggie was that he only ran a 2 page ad this month?
should have pulled his ad in protest!!

Family and Performance Boating ran a similar article. The one I read seemed to be pretty "Fact Based". Baisically, it centered on OL setting their records at a poker run on an informal course (Reggie's perception) and Reggie's record on an established, certified course.
The interesting spin was that Reggie invited OL (Or anyone else, for that matter) to go to their course and run. The entry fee is 60k (Ouch!), but the winner gets that back.
Fiore said, "I would never do an event with him. If we go down there and kick his ass, he'll find some reason why that wasn't fair or that wasn't right."
This article refered to the Fountain/Scarab battles in the past.
The little bit that I know about this saga I can equate to this;
Fountain is to powerboat racing as Richard Petty is to Winston Cup. No one will ever surpass their dominance because Fountain takes racing seriously, and has for years. Lets hope they don't change.

jeff bratton 04-12-2004 09:37 AM

Fiore, does not want to lose 60k & embarrass himself. if he is so confident why not? bragging rights. I think we know the answer. I also think OL is a super boat but over priced.

The Fountain glossies state that more races have been won by Fountains than the next 100 manufacturers COMBINED.

Downtown42 04-12-2004 01:11 PM

OMG  ...no wonder they are always bashing Fountain

FormulaFan 04-12-2004 03:59 PM

How many boats per year are sold by Fountain? By Outerlimits? How many races have been won by Fountain? By Outerlimits? I think you are comparing apples to oranges! However, it does make things interesting, and will sell more boats for both of them!

US1 Fountain 04-12-2004 06:49 PM

Now now guys, you keep this up and the OL guys are going to get there panties in a wad. ;) OL's are nice boats, but they are like all boats (Fountains included) and don't appeal to everyone.

I'll take the money of an OL, buy a Fountain, and have money left over for gas. :D

Yeah, and a tow vehicle, a house on the water, and the bar we go to...

I missed that article. Which issue was it in?

I think fellow Fountain owners are going to like the new Fountain Ad campaign. It's going to be a fun summer.

Dan,

May issue of Family and Performance Boating. The cover has Miami Boat show/How to buy a boat.

dreamboater 04-13-2004 12:58 PM

Can't remember him winning a championship, can you?????

dreamboater 04-14-2004 06:23 AM

If he did, which I am not sure of "world champion powerboats" was on their logo before that so I really dont know where it came from. But as far as price, if you are comparing a 42 executioner w/525 and bravo drives to a 42 Legacy w/1200's or what ever, #6 drives. Yeah you will have money left over and plenty of it. With comparable paint, interior, motors, drives, trailers etc. Fountain, Cig, and OL are not that far off of each other.

dreamboater 04-14-2004 06:31 AM

enough about this anyway.... anyone have any knowledge of fountains new epoxy 42??

Heard it ran real good with 900's

PokerRunGunT/S did a thread after Sarasota poker run. He was invited for a ride with Poker Runs America boats. Rode in #1 w/o epoxy and 105-107 range. Rode in#2 w/epoxy hull and went 122 with same power-900sc mercs. Said epoxy was awesome difference and could really feel the difference.

dreamboater 04-14-2004 11:19 AM

thats what I heard too, did that boat have a cabin?

either way that is an incredible difference.

carney 04-14-2004 03:44 PM

I was at the fountain factory a few weeks ago and saw the new 42 . I could not take pics and thought the boat will be a great seller. I was told the speeds and had my hands on the new seats. I could go on but , lets let fountain finish and see what becomes of this new rocket. It should hit the press soon.

I think yes on cabin but not positive.

mavrick10 04-15-2004 02:03 PM

Is this 42 the one that they had sketches of at the miami boat show??

carney 04-16-2004 04:23 PM

no cabin , but you could go inside. Iam sure it will be available with leather , a marble counter top and a big screen tv . reggie will always out due the comp.
