Actual versus Fountain test sheet
Wanted to stay amongst friends with this one to avoid any Fountain / cig ot comparisons :)
35 Lightning, twin 500's, XR's, Bravo 30's, inward rotation. We match spec sheet pretty darn close until wot. Fountain - Drives - 4.5 / Tabs - 2 / RPM 5300 / speed 86 Actual - Drives 4.5 to 5 / Tabs - 2 / RPM 5100 / speed 82 I assume Fountain is running driver only with probably 10gal per side. Our run was with my honey on board and 1/2 tank fuel, 83 deg and flat lake water. Is it going to take some rough to see 5300 because the sticks are jammed. What do you guys think, are we where we should be? |
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
less fuel, salt water and one less person..... but if Reggie was driving add weight for jewelry :D

Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
bumpy water // - 1 person // salt water // less fuel // u would be there..
your boat runs good |
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
I know Fountain is located in coastal NC but, are they tested in salt?. Is the Pamplico Sound salt, brackish or fresh at that point?
|
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
Yes, the boats are tested in salt. It really cracks me up when I hear people are looking for a freshwater ONLY boat.

Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
My 04 29 Fever was exactly the same as the test sheet...I boat in salt water and simulated the same conditions...myself, 50 gallons of fuel and found the tab and trim settings were exact to duplicate the speed that the Fountain driver got on his run.

Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
The Fuel could be the difference too...
40 Gals per side is 80 Gals X 7lbs/gal = 560lbs. Also, the test sheet will show conditions. If the river water was colder...would also make a difference. Have owned a 29 Single and 35 Lightning and both performance reports were on the money. Had a buddy with a used 35 twin step that had a similar divergence from the performance report. The boat had different props from the report. Gotta get that 200 RPM back. Good Luck. Bill |
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
Mine test sheets state at the bottom that min. amount of fuel is used during the testing.

Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
"Fountain - Drives - 4.5 / Tabs - 2 / RPM 5300 / speed 86"
Are these numbers for a twin step/what year? Would they also apply to a 1996 single step? |
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
You need a 1 to 2 foot chop to break the boat loose from the water. My 35 loses about 5 mph with flat water.
|
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
My sheet said 74mph, that is pretty right on. I can run 73-74 gps in VA in freash water.
WILL :drink: |
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
Wooo Hooooo,
84 in the flats 1/2 tank and my beautiful first mate along... Don't know if she is breathing a little better (500's not Marti...She forgets to breath at this speed) with 36 hours on the engines or what but very very happy. Now I only need to find 93 more mph and I can run with Reggie...Way to Go |
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
I am still a long way from 1/2 his average. But I am working on it. :D

Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
I think Fountain should publish a test sheet for the record-setting boat. Mount it in a frame or plaque; would make a great gift for your favorite Fountain owner.
|
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
Like 124mph at 2800rpms?
|
Re: Actual versus Fountain test sheet
when i got my 42 back in 98 all it said has 75+, i see 78-80 all the time and 81-82 in the cool weather and lite fuel.
