Looking at 47'

I am thinking about going from my 2004 29 to a 47' yet to be determined. I like the 42's but they are so much like the 35's and 38's that there is kind of no point in all of the different boats. I like the agility of the 29, but the cockpit space on the 47 has me hooded, well, and the fact that it has three motors. Anybody with any size that has looked at all of the angels and has any opinion would be helpful.

I believe the 42's have been offered with trips in the past. Not sure if they are currently avail. though.

A 29 to a 47 ? Ahh why not. I went from a 22'bow rider to a 35 Lightning. And wouldn't you know I wish I had a 42. Go for it, but good luck at docking it.

the 47 is a awsome boat and with the big steps owners see in the mid 80's with these boats. you reference the cockpit size of the 42 if you look at a classic deck 42 with side by sides you will get approx 15 more inchs of space, its the staggered that take up the space. also if you ordered a tall windshield boat with side by sides you will still get the staggered engine hatches and cockpit space, only side by side in classic deck has the additional space. i have a 42 and at times its hard to get into places so im sure with the 47 it limits you even more. i boat LOTO and getting into resturants and bars is a regular occurance.

Everybody that has been in my 47 really like it. Big enough to comfortable but unexpectidly agile for its size. Mine is a 2000, 500efis', Genset, all the goodies. I am running IMCOSC extreme drives std height and new Hydromotive P5X 27" props. I hit 82 with it today. It's a incredible boat. I am sure the 46 cig and 47 OL are better but for the price you cant beat the fountain.

Hammer-

I've driven almost every fountain model (pretty sure all but the 24) in smooth and rough water conditions and my personal opinion is the 42 is the best of all worlds. The 35 is night abd day difference to a 42. The 38 is nice, but still not a 42. The hull is just perfect. The 47 is nice, but it's a big boat.

There is a "new" (2002) 47 at the factory right now that can be stolen. If you decide to go with a 47, remember, the market for them is softer than a baby's ass. I mean i won't even stock one. The book for an '03 is about 325K. 275K may actually move the boat if you can find a buyer.

Good luck with it.
