35X w/525s ?
Does anyone know of, or have seen a 35X w/ 525s? I imagine this set up would rock but I am yet to see or hear of one? If so, what are the numbers? Thanks Jim

Re: 35X w/525s ?
Give Vinny a call at Mariner's Cove Fountain....
He is very knowledgeable and very into Fountains... 631 283-7001 |
Re: 35X w/525s ?
You might as well go to the lightning w/ the 525's. You will have a very expensive X when you are done and it will be a tough resale boat. But no dealer will tell you that.

Re: 35X w/525s ?
If you are willing to spend for the 525's you might as well buy the twin step lightning hull. 90+ MPH boat with that setup.

Re: 35X w/525s ?
Whats the street price on a 35' Lightning with 525's and trailer???? I've checked with one dealer on news of a 35' staggered, but he was not aware anything like this was in the works. His opinion was not enough room in engine compartment to do a staggered. Anybody got any updates? When is this going to happen, if it is at all. His quote on 35 Lightning with 525 was $215-- which seems high in relation to the x's being quoted out there. You can about get a 42X with 525 for close to that. Whats everybody think??
|
Re: 35X w/525s ?
35X is much cheaper. I have just never seen one with 525s... just curious on the price. I wont pay for the 35 L ....210 is what I got quoted. I can get a 38 for 230 and a 42X fror 230... all with 525s.

Re: 35X w/525s ?
I thought about ordering a 35x without power, and then ordering some motors from Derebery in Texas. Has anyone ordered without power before, it seems like it would be cheaper if you could get a good credit from fountain on the motors?

Re: 35X w/525s ?
None at Pier 57..... Where did you see them?

Re: 35X w/525s ?
I am running a 1997 35 single step , in fresh water with 525sc's and ext boxes. The boat is great it will run 90 mph on the speedo and 85 on gps. 5200 and 28 bravo's with 1.36 gears. (buy one you will love it).

Re: 35X w/525s ?
The canopy boat is an older model. Reggie Jr. has raced it a few years back and Joe Sgro raced in Washington NC.
It hauls a@@. Runs 112 mph with 525's But is a twitchy boat, will be a handfull in seas. Go with the new staggered 38 Lightning. Very fast and stable!! |
Re: 35X w/525s ?
Or even better, wait for a few weeks and go with the 42 Poker Run.
What a boat!!!!! 105+ mph with 525's |

Very fast and stable!! either way bad ass boats. but a 38 staggerd gonna run 92 ish i would think and thats 20 mph off the 35 that is huge diff.. it compounds as u go faster think 72 to 92 nop now go to 112 that is gonna make anytning nutty,, my o2 as my 35 is solid to about 85to 90, lose and trying to find its bottom and then seems to find it and then over 95 takes a nice set. |
Re: 35X w/525s ?
The 38 poker run boat at 110mph you can take your hands off the wheel!
35 is a beauty, but has too little bottom, Unless you want a boat you have to really drive and have a lot of fun!!! Reggie swears by the 38 Staggered, and loves the new 40 poker run model!!!! Now, please dont think I am knockin the 35, hey... It has won more boat of the year awards than I've had hot dinners!! |

No 35X's with 525's at Pier57. I do have a Lightning. |
Re: 35X w/525s ?
I'm new here and dont usually post alot, but maybe someone would please answer a few questions for me. I am interested in the 35x, but would like to know how the boat handles/est speed(stock power). I also read where somebody said it would be a tough re-sale boat with 525's, ? is the lightning that much different? or cost.
thank you !! :) |
Re: 35X w/525s ?
Stock power is twin 496 Mag Ho's with 425HP each. It will do 76-78MPH loaded right. I have not been in one in rough water, but It is a nice boat. I have not seen one with 525's because if you want 525's you go to the twin step lightning. There is a significant price increase from the executioner to the lightning, but the lightning also has more cockpit room(equal to the 42).

There's a 2002 38 lightning with 575sc's for sale in NH that only has 28 hours on it. They want $169k for it and I think they'd take less than that. It's been for sale since it was new.

Re: 35X w/525s ?
I have been thinking about making a run at that boat... I am more leaning toward a 35 w/525s but that looks like a great deal... all except the high winshield and paint....

Re: 35X w/525s ?
Masher,
The factory can replace the windshield and will repaint the boat for you. If you can buy it right, you can afford to make it the way you want it. The 38 w/ 575's is a FUN package. |

I got a quote once for a shortie windshield at 12K from the factory....for my 29' ... And I am really a blue guy and was hoping for a blue interior. I like that package though and might consider it.... I would have to sell mine.... The paint job would be what...10K? for nothing super fancy? 5K? I might be washed up on the prices but that would be another 15 to 20K...? |

Hello Hammer34
Fountain will not sell a boat from the factory without power, if you want to repower, call Leon and make a deal with him, he could sell you a set of his 650 HP engines and turn around and give you a credit for the new 496 HO's. Also, Leon could do the rigging for you at his shop in Pottsboro. BTW, I happen to have a new 2005 35 Executioner and a new 2005 35 Lightning in inventory. If you are in our sales area, give us a call. www.fountaindealer.com Fountaindriver |
Re: 35X w/525s ?
I think it would be a complete replacement on the newer style windshields. I have just got to decide if I am going to jump into looking for a new boat before I start running people around. I am starting to like that red one.... I could live with it for about 150K :D
|
Re: 35X w/525s ?
Actually just showed the better half the red boat and.... she LOVED it... hmmmm.... anyone know the true costs of the shortie windshield?
|
Re: 35X w/525s ?
Does anyone have any knowledge of this boat? any problems? why hasnt it been sold?
|
Re: 35X w/525s ?
For that matter.... does anyone know the dealer? Silver Sands.... I am from MA but have not heard of them....or anyone who I should speak to? Thanks Jim

Re: 35X w/525s ?
The shorty windshield is ~$7,200 and the race fairing is not worth the hassle of changing - pretty big project. You will grow to like the tall windshield, it is much quieter, I can have a conversations with everyone in the cockpit at full throttle and if it rains you stay dry.

Thanks John. I have the taller version on my 29 and wouldnt change it for the world. The bigger 32+ boats I dont like it on and the shorter one on the bigger boats is tall enough for me. I have ridden in both and they are both OK with me. I am not a fan at all of the race fairing but want the shorty on mine. I figure there has got to be a way to somehow cut the tall one down? If not just swap it out with someone or heck even with Fountain for a shorty.... |
Re: 35X w/525s ?
I discussed cutting one down with a friend and it does not seem like a big deal . The only thing that would change is the angle of the glass if you were to reuse the stock frame, which I think would look better as it would be flatter like the Fever. There are a few places that can make the glass. If you were to provide the frame, I would think it would be easy to do.
|
Re: 35X w/525s ?
I spoke to a guy in TN that said he could just use the existing glass, cut it down and re-use the hardware... I moved to TX so I never went any further... sound reasonable?
|
Re: 35X w/525s ?
Or I was thinking of painting the frame silver/gray (like the Formula) to make it appear shorter... anyone ever done that?
|
Re: 35X w/525s ?
Good dealership... Call and ask for Chris Gagnon (he is the GM - his Dad owns the place.). They'll do right by you, esp. if you're going to drag it to TX. :)

I will give Chris a call... are you personally familiar with the boat? |
