27 Pricing information
Local bank has a 2000 27 Fever. Last time I saw hour meter it said 180hrs, shows 20x now. Boat has been completley stripped. No engine, drive, tabs, stereo, gauges, wires, swim ladder, etc. It is hull/deck/windshield. What do you think it is worth? No rot, no chips/scratches, good condition hull.

Re: 27 Pricing information
Hyper,
So its a 2000 just hull, man you are looking at some work but could save $$ big. Totally stripped but not needing any cosmetic, I will take a stab and say 5-10K this is assuming you need Bolsters, seats, interior, wiring, k-planes, bilge pumps, eletrical, carpet, lighting, hatch/cover, and yes entire drive, motor, and all the parts that go with it. If you have a shop, time and 25K extra you may be able to make it happen. The best thing to do would be to find that wrecked 42Fountain that went into the tree and buy all the Fountain stuff you could off of that boat. WILL |
Re: 27 Pricing information
That 42 is back at the factory.

Re: 27 Pricing information
ARe they going to fix that 42?

Re: 27 Pricing information
The thing is not worth anything. There would be very few people who, even if they wanted a Fountain, would buy it. Way too much work for most people to tackle. Tell them you will do them a favor and take it off there hands. That is, if you really want it! Remember, you have to locate, buy and install all the stuff to make it a running boat. This could end up costing you more than you could buy a "complete" boat for.
You are doing them a favor just taking it off there hands. It would cost them $$ to have it hauled to the junk yard. If you really want it, start by telling them you will take it for nothing and go up from there. It could be a fun project, just work out the numbers first! |
Re: 27 Pricing information
I partially agree with Innthered, it will be allot of work and the only way to really build it with out loosing money is to find a wrecked boat and strip the parts from it. It can be done, I would e-mail "Too Old" I think he has rebuilt allot of boats and could give you an idea of what used parts can be obtained for.
AS for the TREE FOUNTAIN, no way its at the factory unless the owner is claiming a Warranty claim on it :D :D Seriously what woulf Fountain want with it, they can't sell any of the parts (to much liability) ???????? WILL |
Re: 27 Pricing information
Saw the boat at the factory Monday. The pictures do not fully describe the damage to that boat. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!! I think that the boat has already been sold.

Re: 27 Pricing information
Oh, boat is on a nice MYCO trailer.
Think 5k is about right for it? |
Re: 27 Pricing information
The trailer is worth 2-3k used so 5K for all of it sounds like a winner. If you do get it I will take as many pics of mine (a 2001) and e-mail them to you to help rebuild it. Hey if you don't get it I have a friend who may be interested.

Re: 27 Pricing information
The boat was at the factory. What a mess. I would offer them a grand for thier trouble. It will cost 2-3K to bring to the dump.

And I am able to get all of the original things for it. On 00 Myco trailer. 5k sound reasonable? |
Re: 27 Pricing information
Still too much. I'm serious, banks just want to get the stuff off the books. They have already written it off anyway since the owner stripped it before they re-poed it. If it's sitting on the trailer, they won't sell the trailer without the boat (what will they do with it?). Give them $1000 for the works max. You are probably their best hope to get rid of it.
Tell them how difficult it will be to get all the parts. BS them into thinking they need YOU to get it out of there. Nobody else will touch it. |
Re: 27 Pricing information
Yes, I am getting a few quotes on the engine/drive combo (502mag/B1), and need to contact fountain about the price of a new interior, then will do a reasonable estimate of rigging a boat like that.

Re: 27 Pricing information
Whenever you are finished coming up with an estimate, make sure to double or triple it. It is all of the little pieces (tabs, rams, hydraulic hoses, stainless clamps, coolers, strainers, wiring harness, etc.) that end up killing you. I did the same thing on an older 33 Fountain and it was very frustrating financially when I was all done. I have alot more into it than it is worth. The only way I would do it again is if I had the time (alot of it), space (indoor and close by), and extra cash laying around doing nothing. Paying others to do some of the work also eats up the cash fast.
When you are all done you will probably discover that you spent as much or more than if you just went out and found one already running. That also gets you on the water much faster. Good luck, Doug |

good luck

Re: 27 Pricing information
The little things like hoses and fittings will kill the budget. I had no idea untill i started rigging mine. I had drives and engines and thought the big costs were over. Not even close. The rigging parts add up way faster than you think, makes you understand how boats cost so much. Also, you are going to need to build it with new or slightly used parts or it wont be worth the 2000 price when you go to sell it. It will be obvious that it was pieced together with cheap parts. I would try to get the boat just take your time getting it together.

Re: 27 Pricing information
I am able to get all of the original parts for cheap.

I was pricing a complete standard cockpit interior to refit a 29 race boat about 2 years ago and the estimate was 10-12k and that was not including the cabin. Good luck, Todd |
Re: 27 Pricing information
Sorry, did not specify. Original color interior/engine same as what came in it stock. Not the parts that came out of the boat, but the same as what it had on day 1.
