Props / RPM / Slip
I've got this in Tech forum to, but thought I would throw it out to the Fountain owners that might have already gone threw this.
Julie, and anybody else sharper than I please chime in. The more I searched the more confused I get. Here is my situation: 05 35 Lightning / 500 EFI's / Bravo 30's / inward rotation / 1.5 XR's Slip calc (if done right): WOT is 5000 rpm X 30P=150,000 / 1584 = 94.7 x .89=84.3 I am getting 84 on gps with 8.9% slip. I cannot get any more rpm no matter trim/tab combo. I am fine out of the hole (I baby the drives) but would like 200 more rpm and better midrange. Should I jump to diff pitch or look at having Throttle rework Bravo's |
Re: Props / RPM / Slip

Re: Props / RPM / Slip
Then the easiest (and cheapiest) thing to do would be to have your current props labbed, you should pick up 200 rmp or better - and probably a couple mph - if not better. I think most 35 two steps with 500 efi's run around 86-87 out of the box. Those XR's might be costing you a mph, but you should be doing better than 84. Your current props might really be out of balance. Lab and BP those puppies and see what happnes. Then go from there.

Re: Props / RPM / Slip
I have 2001 35 twin step, with stock 30 bravos 82 - 83 . After lab finiching ran 84_85 5400rpm. Through the bravos on ebay and get Maximus 30 pitch 5 blade props ,They have to be labbed and will not be any faster but bottom and midrange is worth every penny. I gained 13M.P.H. at 3200. Great for cruse and engine life.
