42 staggered

Seems to me that the 42 is the way to go...going to make runs across the gulf, or bahamas. Any comments/whatever....or are you selling a 42 stagger anytime soon...I think the Velocity just sold... :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Hey, I am a Cig. guy. What do you mean we get pissed when we loose?

I had a 99 42ft w/ 500's. I loved the boat! It is a great all around boat. You won't be dissapointed.

Hey FOX - I'm thinking kinda along the same lines as you.
Right now I'm driving a 98 Fever 32'er. An older ( maybe non-step ) 42'er, staggered, semi-PR setup, with 525's and Konrads would probably be my ideal next boat. With the Fountain, I think you can get a LOT of boat for pretty reasonable money.
The 32'er just isn't QUITE big enough for the Pacific Ocean when it kicks up in the afternoons. I have yet to ride in a 42, but everything I'm hearing about em sounds great. . . . keep us posted on your progress.

Re: 42 staggered

As far as stepped vs. non stepped, I drove a friends 35 Donzi zf last year for quite a while on the Detroit River, and had no real problems with that bottom, as far as the usual stuff associated with steps...Boat drove real nice and just seemed to feel a little slippery around corners, but not to the point of being unpredictable.

I guess my point is, I would go stepped if in doubt, to pick up the extra mph, just be easy on the cocktails until you get used to the ride.

Will keep you posted on the 42', gotta be one out there with my name on it... :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

I have a one-of-a-kind 42' Fountain I will be selling in a few months. It is a 1992 non stepped bottom with a six man stand up cockpit, perfect for poker runs and still has a cabin. It is a staggerred setup and I have new motors being built. What power and drives are you looking for? I am thinking about putting new Xr's and Stellings ext boxes on. Even if I add all that it will still be less than $100k. The interior is being redone all white as we speak along with a new Sumbrella cover and I am thinking about updating the paint as well. If this is something that you are interested in PM or Email me and we can do colors you like, power etc... The boat has a really cool history I will tell you about later and only 117 hours on the hull.

Oh I just ordered a new trailer yesterday should be here in about two weeks.

The 42' Fountain is one of the easiest boats to drive I have ever owned this is my second.

Re: 42 staggered

If your wallet will allow I would try to get into a stepped
bottom 42.
With a non-stepped bottom big power will be needed
to achieve desired speeds.

Will check it out...Selling a house in Detroit area, and the Velocity, so that should be wrapped up in a month or so...Will be in Detroit next month, then Tampa, so let me know where boat is located, also how many hours on 1100's, how reliable, sound a little more radical than I want but then again one ride may take care of that problem...are you at 100mph with that power? seems like you should be...plus check out the retard who thinks my friend doesn't have a Donzi...rf :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

If you read my post real slow and carfull you will see I didn't down anyones boat, running stuff down, thats your job, I simply stated a fact that there is no 35zx. :D

Why do you need a 42 fountain anyway, your Velocity walks all over anything on the water already? Seems like a waste of money to upgrade? :evilb:

Oh and I wouldn't mind having a 35ZF, I think they are a great boat.

Mid 70's in the open bow version with 3x250

If you live anywhere north you probably want the cuddy cabin, got a little cold on the detroit river.

[QUOTE=Rippem]O M G ! :eek:

hope everyone but him got the point...thats a hella of a boat, a lot of boats are fast, we all have our favorites, and speed is relative. If a 28 can go 80+, then a 38-42 going 65 or so is still going the same relative speed...or whatever....one still gets there faster...lol :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Thank for the props!!! Appreciate your input!!!

Then you maybe want to look at the new Donzi 38zr's (not the zr comp) before you bite on a fountain since the donzi's have won the national and worlds in 2004 and 7 titles since 2002.

the boat is currently at Dereberry Marine in Texas, might bring it back to Oklahoma. The Cobras have aprox 75 hrs on them.I had dereberry just check the upper ends everything was in good shape. The motors have been great ! The start, idle very well, and dont foul spark! The boat is a honest 116mph. Finally broke over and bought a 44 MTI is the only reason i am selling it. This boat has not been abused!

116 is serious speed...Velocity is pretty much sold, no promises on yours but am interested...will be doing runs across the gulf so need amenities, however would like to see it...where do you boat and how is the MTI...rf :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Cool boat, a bit slippery on the turns but nothing to worry about...Drove it back from Lake Erie in slop and had no problems except keeping 3 outboards in sync ....those things are not quite as cool as a couple of big blocks running at 5500... :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

I was referring to the same Donzi Von Bongo was talking about - the new 38 ZR. If I wasn't already redoing this 38 Fever then I would give that boat a serious look.

ZR is cool, but to run across the gulf to the keys I would still like a cabin to crawl into if needed...ZR is seriously fat though... :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Re: 42 staggered

The new ZR's do have a cabin. The boat in that picture has standup bolsters with a full or cover girl cabin that you access thru the cockpit.

didnt know that...sounds good, I have seen their performance numbers as well as Race wins, definitely a good design...didnt someone buy Donzi last year...seems like I read that in powerboat. Never seen one up close yet...hope too

Re: 42 staggered

RF don't confuse the zr with the zr comp which is similar to the race boats. The zr has the same hull but a different deck and can be had with ac, vacuflush and about any other option or a basic cabin.

The boat has dockside ac, flushable head, vee bearth bed, cl oset, and asink. We boat mostly on Grand Lake in Oklahoma, usually LOTO a couple times, Lake texoma a couple times, maybe Destin this Aug. The MTI is great gettig used to the surface drives and rudder. the fountain is a fresh water boat and is ready to go! I have a wife and kids that are usually in the boat 99% of the time we are cruising at 50-60 mph, BUT when you want the power its there !
