ftmyersoffshore.org - club organization & website
I would like to get some input from you guys about taking the club organization to a new level and launching a website.
Here are some thoughts:
ftmyersoffshore.org
Set up as a community blog (members contribute photos and comments)
with redirects from ftmyersoffshore.com and ftmyersoffshore.net.
Initial launch will focus on calendar of events, maps of the area and photos from us.
free membership to first 50, nominal ($10?) thereafter.?
Registration required to post— 5 or 6 members will be moderators.
Not-for-profit setup? or backed by members?
Tshirt sales, etc for operating fund- catering fees, helo rental.
Larger event planning such as a New Years Day Poker Run?
Or spring fun runs? etc
Registration at the website would give us an organized member list, and I think it could immediately be useful to anyone who travels the waters here. I'll contribute stuff like tshirt designs, maps and other graphics. The site and the organization would be run by the members- my personal interest (other than fun) would be in ad sales on the website somewhere down the road.
Let's hear some thoughts.

also,
some ideas for inclusion on the site could be things like:
a waterwebcam at Dennis' that he could activate whenever
time and tide feed
google earth subscription so members could access and populate a community map
community toys?- onboard cam and recorder for use by members, radar gun, water ballon launcher

Great idea......if you look at the number of hits to our threads, there are lots of people looking! We may also be the way our nothern friends can get thier boating fixes when there lookin' at ice and snow. (except the lucky guys that can winter down here and boat with us!!!!!) Any help you need, just ask. You've already done so much...

Sign me up. I am onboard with this idea.
There are other boating organizations that charge $150 just to become a member. I would be willing to pay a membership fee even if I was one of the first 50 people to sign up.
Let me know what I can do to help.
Maybe raise enough money to buy an unbuildable waterfront lot for our own private beach? Or lease some land from the state?
Maybe I am shooting for the moon??? lol
