We will also be offering overnight accommodations at South Seas Plantation if there is support for it.
Thursday January 1, 2009 - Annual New Years Day run to Guy Harvey's at the Esplande Complex on Marco Island, FL. 11:00 AM Start Come by boat or come by car, but just come and join in the fun.

Notes:
If the weather does not co operate for any of our Saturday events, the fun run will take place the next day if possible. If the weather does not co operate for our New Years Day run you are invited to drive to Guy Harveys as many did last year, when over 80 people had a great time.
All events leave from the south side of the Sanibel Bridge at 11:00 AM unless noted otherwise.

To participate in our Fun Runs, the boat owner / operator must be a boating member of Ft. Myers Offshore, Inc. It is preferred that you sign up by downloading an application form on the website ( soon to be available) and sending it in, in advance, however you can register at any of the runs. Until the form is available on the website I can e mail it to you by contacting me at [email protected]
Generally speaking Ft. Myers Offshore, Inc. Fun Runs are free of charge to members, other than runs that have been identified as " fund raisers". We are committed to having two fund raising events a year to fund our scholarship program, one in the fall (Thanksgiving) and one in the spring.
Welcome to Ft. Myers Offshore, Inc.
Bob

Well, the Bobfather didn't mention specifics and it probably goes without sayin, but I'll say it anyway:
I am stoked for the Turkey Run!
Cannot wait to finally break through the helo barrier.
A note to all corporate sponsors-
the attached jpeg shows some of the ads that will be used on the website at their actual size of 160 x 240 pixels. Feel free to email me a jpeg of your ad, or I will be happy to assemble a simple one for you. Tell me what you want it to say, and either email a jpeg of your logo or send me a url where I can find one. These ads are small enough that I can probably use anything that is already on your site. The ads will display three at a time in the left nav bar of the site and shuffle at random. Each will link to your site if you have one.
Stay tuned- it's gonna be a great season!

Hi Bob-
I hope all is well. I just had one question for you. Is there a size or speed requirement to our fun runs? My Motion is down for repairs (redoing the tanks becasue of ethanol) and want to still run with the group. I have my 20 Fastcat that I would like to run on Oct 11th but was not sure if it was to small. Would this be OK?
Thanks
Don

Generally I would say boats running with us, need to be able to cruise safely at a minimum 45 to 50 mile an hour. There will always be boats faster than that of coarse and we can occasionally regroup or if there is a large run such as Thanksgiving we will have 2 or 3 groups based on their capabilities. Above all, we must always use our better judgment and be safe.

Hello Don. While we do not have a minimum size, what is most important is running at a safe speed for the size of the boat given the water conditions for any of our runs. If the Gulf is relatively flat on the 11th, you will be fine. If not we trust you will do the right thing and hitch a ride in a larger boat.

That was my thought too. If the gulf is flat I was planning on running it down other wise I am going to see if I can get a ride. My motion will be ready for the thanksgiving run!

I just filled out the membership form so if you will have me I am now an official social member I figure it will be several years till we ever bring a boat down, but I am social
I have my plane reservations made for November, I am flying in on Wednesday the 19th and Ian comes in the following Wednesday the night before Thanksgiving. We fly home together Monday the 1st. Bob we will be in for whatever you decide to do on the Thanksgiving run, if you guys overnight then we will also. We can meet you at Marco or wherever the boat is and ride to the meeting point and back, or whatever you prefer. We will just be excited to be out of MI and go with the flow. It's already starting to feel like fall here
