Thanksgiving Lunch Run to Miller's at Boca Grande Saturday 11/26
Attending captains please read entire document in order to minimize any confusion.
Our Thanksgiving weekend fun run has a change in the destination. We will be going to Miller’s Dockside Restaurant at Boca Grande Marina. This is one of two fundraising events for our student scholarship program. If you are attending please notify me by 3PM on Wednesday the 23rd. We will need to provide an estimate to the restaurant.
We are asking each captain to pay a minimum of $100 (more at your discretion). Please visit our website at www.ftmyersoffshore.com, select events, then go to event #3 and add to cart. You will also see the Lunch Event fee that you can pay for each person on your boat. Our website allows you to pay with your credit card or through PayPal. Paying through the website makes it much easier for the board so we do not have to track down each captain.
Membership information/renewal:
All vessels participating in FMO events are required to carry insurance and have a current boater’s membership. Memberships are on a calendar year basis and if you have not yet renewed your membership for 2017 or are new and wanting to join the club please visit our website. If you renew at anytime between now and year end your membership will be good for all of 2017.
Route:
Our starting point will once again be the south side of the Sanibel Bridge. Boats should assemble around 10:45am and we will leave by 11:00 sharp. We will run up the ICW in the marked channel all the way to Boca Grande. Depending on weather conditions some may want to run offshore and enter Boca Grande Pass.
Dockage:
The marina has slips set aside for us. In addition club member Doug Comrie has a 100’ dock around the corner which will be available. Depending on the number of boats we might have to anchor and raft off in the cove. Please make sure you are prepared to anchor your boat and have plenty of fenders available. Depending on the size of our group I might follow up with an additional e mail to the attending captains regarding dockage. The dock master has saved slips for us and is doing his best to provide us with as much room as possible. Please make sure you tip the dock hands, without their cooperation we would not be able to do this.
Fuel/Distance:
From the Sanibel bridge to Boca Grande and back should be about 80 miles. Fuel is available at Boca Grande Marina. 93 octane is very difficult to find so please leave with a full tank if you require high octane fuel.
Food:
We will be eating upstairs at Miller’s Dockside. The restaurant will have a buffet set up with Caesar Salad, Harbor Salad, Grilled Chicken Breast, Pulled Pork Sliders, Griddled Caprese Flatbread Sandwiches, Fries, Cole Slaw and Dessert. The cost is $30 per person which includes tax and tip which is paid to Ft Myers Offshore. The club will then pay the restaurant, this is a requirement of the restaurant.
Communication:
My cell number is 239-849-6533. Anyone dropping out after the start should let me know so we do not spend time either waiting or looking for you. Please leave a message if I do not answer.
Weather/Sea Conditions:
To be posted on OSO prior to the run and updated as needed.
Tides:
Low tide in Fort Myers on Saturday is at 8:45a.m. If water height is an issue you might want to drop your boat in the water the night before.
Safety:
Each boat captain is required to operate his vessel in a safe manner and is responsible for his/her crew and their safety. When running in the ICW please be aware that this can be a high traffic area and we ask that other boats be given a wide berth and that the rules of the road be adhered to. As always our club has zero tolerance for the captain drinking alcohol.
The conclusion of our event is at the restaurant. We will not have an organized departure, each captain is free to leave when they want.

Bob will be there. Not sure at this point if I will bring the Statement or Nor Tech but will eventually advise of boat and crew size.
