Roll Call / Info for FMO fun run to Hyatt House, Naples - Saturday, January 28 / 17

Attending Captains should read this information carefully to avoid any confusion.

General Information: This will be the clubs first ever fun run to the new Hyatt House on the Gordon River bordering downtown Naples. In addition to this being a fun run, we have also negotiated a very favorable room rate for those wanting to make a weekend of it or even just stay over on Saturday night. Room rate details and booking info can be found below. For those staying over at the hotel we can plan on doing additional things after the lunch / fun run boats have departed. A few things that come to mind are downtown shopping, walk to nearby Tin City, relaxing around the gorgeous pool, evening dinner and a pub crawl in downtown Naples. The following day we could do an optional lunch run in the area before returning to our home ports. Please let Eric or Bob know if you will be attending just the Saturday fun run or have plans to stay over at the Hyatt.

This fun run is free of charge to paid up FMO members and there is no event fee for those staying over.

Registration: To register for this club event Captains are asked to e mail either Bob at [email protected] or Eric at [email protected] or post up on our event thread on OffshoreOnly.com (OSO). We have not found Facebook to be a reliable way to register Captains and their boats. Facebook is fine to help get the info out and for discussion purposes.

Start time: 11:00 AM from the our usual place on the south side of the Sanibel Bridge.

Departure time from Hyatt House after our lunch and social time will be at your leisure.

Membership renewal: If you have not yet renewed your membership for 2017, now would be a good time to do so as we are now into a new year. Please go to our website at www.ftmyersoffshore.com and complete the online form or download and mail it in. Please note that to participate in FMO events you must be a paid up club member and your boat must be insured. If your insurance has recently renewed or if you have a different boat please provide your current info to FMO board member Bill Lemanske at [email protected] Bill keeps track of members insurance information on behalf of the club.

Route: From the Sanibel Bridge we will start behind Eric Belisle’s MTI which will be the pace boat. We will run a coastal course south that will take us past Bonita Beach, past the Naples high rise buildings and just 2.75 miles past the Naples pier you will come to Gordon Pass. The coordinates for Gordon Pass are 26/05/44 N; 81/48/82 W. It is recommended you follow the pace boat or someone with local knowledge up the ICW to downtown Naples as there is a short idle zone just inside Gordon pass and also idle before you get to the Naples City Docks. After idling past Tin City and under the US 41 bridge, turn right and you will see the Hyatt come into view a few hundred yards along.

Dockage: There are 2 primary areas we will be docking our boats and a third if needed. All three areas are shown on the attached map and involve some rafting so please have lines and fenders handy. There may be a limited number of slips made available to us as well.

The first area is where the rental boats are currently that will be moved, freeing up the T dock. There will be room for 2 rafts here by going stern to stern.

Beyond that there are 2 sets on newly built docks in a dark brown color. Again we can raft out into the bay with 2 more sets of rafts.

The 3rd area is a bit further along and around the corner and is labeled longside on the docking plan. This area if needed is best suited to v hulls. Since the railing in this area has no gate it is more challenging to get on and off your boat so this will only get used if absolutely needed.

Fuel / Distance: The distance from the Sanibel Bridge to the entrance of Gordon Pass is 30 miles. All boats are urged to leave with sufficient fuel, particularly if you use high octane fuel that is hard to get. 90 octane fuel can be obtained at either Hamilton Harbour Marina inside Gordon Pass off the ICW or Naples City Docks on Naples Bay.

Food: The Hyatt will be serving us a buffet lunch including desert, tax and gratuity for $ 25.00. I will speak to them about a reduced rate for children. They will be setting us up on an outside patio. FMO volunteers will likely be collecting the money and issuing wrist bands.

Booking a room: The per night room rate for our group is $ 209.00 and I believe taxes are extra. There is no booking code but it is necessary to contact Karla Feazell to make your reservation and tell her you are a part of the Ft. Myers Offshore group. The rate is available on Friday / Saturday and / or Sunday night. Karla’s direct line is 239-417-6786 and e mail is [email protected] Monday to Friday’s only.

Communication: Inter boat communication to be on VHF channel 72. Bob cell is 239-776-0481 and Eric’s cell is 239-849-6533. Anyone dropping out after the start should let one of us know so we do not spend time waiting or looking for you. Leave a voice mail if no answer.

A little cool for us locals but still manageable
