Info / Roll Call for FMO fun run to Bayfront Bistro Fort Myers Beach - Saturday 02/10/18
Event Organized by Tim Hill

Attending Captains should read this information carefully to avoid any confusion.

General Information: We will be going to Bayfront Bistro on the bay side of Fort Myers Beach for lunch and then having a raft up party at the mount of the river afterwards in the cove. If you are attending please notify me by 3PM on Wednesday the 7th. We will need to provide an estimate to the restaurant and marina.

This fun run is free of charge to paid up FMO members and there is no event fee

Registration: To register for this club event Captains are asked to post here on FMO, e-mail Eric at [email protected] or mark as going on the event pinned to the FMO Facebook Page.

Start time: 11am. Location to be determined: Sanibel Causeway or Red Fish pass depending on weather and seas.

Details: Lunch Run to Bayfront Bistro on the back bay of Fort Myers Beach. Weather permitting we may start this run from Red Fish Pass (Upper Captiva / South Seas Plantation) to make it a little farther run to the south end of Fort Myers Beach and entrance into Estero Bay. Bayfront has put together a Phenomenal Brunch menu for us hosting us at their outdoor bar / patio area right at the docks. Plenty of floating dock space and slips are being saved for us. After lunch we are planning a raft up party in Kinzie Cove (where Jasper's Bait Shack is usually anchored) at the mouth of the river. Maps to follow.

Departure time from Bayfront Bistro at your lesiure but between 2:30pm and 3pm for those wanting to attend the raft up afterwards.

Membership renewal: If you have not yet renewed your membership for 2018, now would be a good time to do so as we are now into a new year. Please go to our website at www.ftmyersoffshore.com and complete the online form or download and mail it in. Please note that to participate in FMO events you must be a paid up club member and your boat must be insured. If your insurance has recently renewed or if you have a different boat please e mail your current info to [email protected]

Route: TBD Based on starting location. Last leg of the course will take us to the south end of Fort Myers Beach into Big Carols Pass. PLEASE NOTE: There is a new marked channel into Big Carlos Pass at the South end of FMB. The channel was dredged in September and no longer requires you to take a southern course beyond the pass to pick up the marked channel. Once through Big Carlos pass we will take a northern course up the back side of FMB in through the back bay. There is about a 10 minuet idle zone on the back side of the very south end of FMB. After this it is a 25mph in the channel. This channel is a series of well marked S Curves which we I would recommend we proceeded through in single file on plane. At the end of the S curves the bay will open back up and it will be an idle zone with Bayfront Bistro on Port side just ahead.

Dockage: Please stay tuned for additional details on dockage. Bayfront Bistro and the adjacent Snook Bight marina are saving us floating dock space along side the restaurant and also several slips. Docking map to follow.

Fuel / Distance: The distance from the Sanibel Bridge to the Bayfront Bisto is 15 miles with the idle zone. All boats are urged to leave with sufficient fuel, particularly if you use high octane fuel that is hard to get. 90 octane fuel can be obtained right at Snook Bight where we will be docked.

Food: The Bayfront Bistro will be serving us a buffet lunch for $25. The $25 does not include tax or tip. They will be setting us up on an outside patio right along the docks.

When running in the ICW please be aware that this can be a high traffic area and we ask that other boats be given a wide berth and that the rules of the road be adhered to.
