FMO Turkey Run 11-28-2020
 

Our Thanksgiving fun run this year is going back to Village Brewhouse at Fisherman’s Village in Punta Gorda. We will raft up in the same location as years past. This is one of two fundraising events for our student scholarship program. If you are attending please notify us by 3PM on Thursday the 26th.
This is one of two designated fundraising events. We are asking each captain to donate a minimum of $100 per boat (more at your discretion). Follow this link to register your boat and pay your donation:

You can then use a credit card to pay the donation. Paying through the website makes it much easier for the board so we do not have to track down each captain.
Last year, because of your generous donations, FMO was able to donate $20,000 in FGCU Scholarships and over $3,000 in fire fighter academy scholarships to the SWFL Public Service Academy.

Membership information/renewal:
All vessels participating in FMO events are required to carry insurance and have a club membership. Memberships are on a calendar year basis and if you have not yet renewed your membership for 2021 or are new and wanting to join the club please visit our website. If you renew at any time between now and year end your membership will be good for all of 2021.
Route:
Our starting point will once again be the south side of the Sanibel Bridge. Boats should assemble around 10:45am and we will leave by 11:00 Sharp. We will run up the ICW in the marked channel into Charlotte Harbor. Depending on weather conditions some may want to run offshore and enter Boca Grande Pass and travel up Charlotte Harbor.
Fuel/Distance:
From the Sanibel bridge to Punta Gorda and back should be about 110 miles for those running offshore and 100 miles by way of the ICW. Fuel is available at Punta Gorda Marina and Fisherman’s Village. 93 octane is very difficult to find so please leave with a full tank if you require high octane fuel.
Food:
We are set up for the outdoor patio overlooking our boats and also the indoor section leading out to the patio. Lunch will be a buffet with real homemade hand breaded chicken tenders, smoked pulled pork, wings, house made potato chips, mac & cheese, and fruit salad. (we had this same menu for a recent poker run and it was one of the best we have had)

Safety:
Each boat captain is required to operate his vessel in a safe manner and is responsible for his/her crew and their safety. When running in the ICW please be aware that this can be a high traffic area and we ask that other boats be given a wide berth and that the rules of the road be adhered to. As always no alcohol for the captains. The conclusion of our event is when we arrive at the lunch destination, each captain is free to return at his or her leisure.
