Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
I got a price for a triple axil trailer, 10,500 lb, brakes on 2 axils, 14" wheels, 6 ply tires, built for my boat. $4300.00 delivered to my house.
Are these good trailers? Good Price? http://www.nextrailofamerica.com/features.htm |
Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
I have owned the same exact trailer for a couple years now, have put a lot of high speed miles on it and it's been a great trailer.I went up to the factory to pick mine up and the people there were totally straight up to work with.It tows like a dream. Are you getting the torsion bar axles , if not i would recomend them ,they were only a few hundred to upgrade to.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
I talked to Gary and he said the torsion bar axels are not good.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
We just pulled a brand new 37 Active Thunder back from Pompano Beach on one. Had no issues with it after 1100 miles. Brakes worked, boat was well supported, and it rode real good, even on rough roads.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
Ditto used to be Towmaster. Had the same trailer. Paid $3400 with one set of brakes seven years ago. Seems a good price delivered.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
What weight are the individual axles rated for? 3500lbs I am guessing?
NOT good. Torsion axles are fine, however, go for 5000 or 6000 lbs axles. You will thank me later. If you blow a tire/wheel/bearing, and try to limp home/off the road with 2 out of 3 on a side, you willd damage your good axles. As you ascend and decend ramps with the boat on the trailer, you will find most of your weight is on the front axle of the trailer. Often the rear axle is completely off the ground. This will wear out and possibly break the torsion suspension of your front axle, as well as bend your spindles, create havoc on your bearings, and obviously destroy your tires. I have a 9500 lb boat on a trailer rated for 15000 lbs. You can't have too much capacity. |
Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
yes, it is a "good buy" to purchase more than you need up front...definitely.
|
Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
I have one and love it.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
I have a Fastload (very similar to the Nextrail) and agree with what Sydwayz has to say about capacity. I'm pulling a 8,000 dry weight 31ft boat on a 15,000 trailer also.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
My last trailer was a Rocket Trailer. Total trash. I would not even have used it to cart around a woodshed. It had 'Quality Axles' on it, which were ANYTHING but. They were rated for 3500 lbs. and I had exactly 7000 lbs. on the trailer when (trailer & fuel included). They were both trashed within a couple years. I had to replace both of them due to bent spindles.
I also highly recommend Kodiak Disc Brakes. Most of the trailer manufacturers offer them. I think they are step above the Tie-Down Engineering Brakes. Go with the Stainless Steel Calipers with Nickel Cadmium Rotors (dual plane, with cooling fins, much stronger and less prone to warping. This is the most popular combo, but you can get Stainless Steel Rotors for BIG dollars. Tie-Down Engineering uses a single plane rotor which is thinner, weaker, and more prone to warping. Their SS kit includes a SS rotor, but the caliper is the weak portion on the Tie-Downs as it is plain Aluminum and prone to corrosion. My strife on my last trailer: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ghlight=kodiak |
Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
Thanks for the responses. I bought the trailer. I went with Gary's recomendations, triple axil, leaf instead of torsion, drum breaks/electric on 2 axils, 10,500 lb. Lifetime warranty, 5 yrs. on brakes. $ 4304.00 to my driveway.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
Rockets are/were the biggest piece of sh!t in the aluminum trailer arena. They are not all like that. Other than Rocket, aluminum trailers have proven to be useful and dependable. Let's face it brakes, couplers, winches, lights ect that you choose are all from the same vendors, regardless of the trailer brand you choose.
Good luck with the trailer. I'm quite sure you'll be satisfied... they are low cosmetic maintenence and keep the total wieght of the package down compared to steel. it's easy for these guys to spend 10-12K of your money. |
Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
Never mentioned Myco, or anything like that. I just highly suggested over engineering it capacity-wise a bit; which he did as PE has a 31' Sonic.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
You guys might be wrong in assuming that a 10,500 lb. trailer has 3-3500lb axles. My Manning trailer (which is rated for 12,000 lbs.) has 3-6,000 lb. axles.

Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
what about trailer flex? how large are the Nexttrail I beams?

That's because your heavy ass lead filled crap heap weighs 4000 lbs. :D :D Honest, I don't know their exact way for making the ratings, but I know it starts with the axles. |
Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
Sounds like a good price to me. Its worth a couple grand in scrap aluminum alone.
Let me know when you start shopping for the LED's. I need some for my truck and trailer. |
Re: Anyone know about Nextrail Trailers?
Been away for the weekend
Nextrail said torsion axles use rubber bushing that wear out and do damage to axle. He also said 10,500 was enough, I also called Dollar Offshore and Mindy agreed. Nextrail I beams are 6.5". Unfortunately my budget is limited and this is the way I have to go. |
