First Run with new power
We finally went for the first "shake down run" this afternoon. The weather was drizzling so there were no other boats out. The water was flat as a lake. Larry from Xtreme said he wanted to drive and throttle since it was the first run and if anything was going to happen from defects of products or anything else, it would probably happen now. The props we have are too large in diameter, they are 17" and we need to have them made into 16.5". When we first started out, the bow of the boat never even raised to go on plane. The boat just went from an idle right to being on plane. The boat use to take about 15 seconds to get on plane, now it's instant. We brought the boat up to 5100 and we were doing 121 KNOTS (can't figure out how to change the GPS). We have the rev limiters set at 6,100 where we never came close to. I can't even imagine with the right props what the top speed will be. I have to admit, I was a little nervous and I never realized how small the boat actually gets when it goes that fast!! I am thrilled with the work Extreme did on the boat and I also want to thank Fred from Trick for all the custom parts he got us. I can't wait to get our new trim tabs he had made for us on the boat next week.
Does anyone know the exact conversion for knots to MPH? |
