Default Help...I think I just bought the wrong prop?

Hey Guys (and gals),

I just bought a Bravo One prop from a guy as I've been wanting to switch from a hydromotive to the bravo one. Anyway...I got the prop and I believe it has the flo-torque hub...unfortunately I think it has the plastic insert/hub and I believe those are only rated to around 400HP. What do I need to do to this prop if I want to run it with 500HP on a standard Bravo One drive?

This may seem elementary, but I've always had the Hydromotive on the boat since the day I bought it...just wanting to try a few different things

Do I take the prop to a local "prop shop" and have them put a metal hub inside? If so, how much should I pay for something like that? I think I also need the sleeve that fits over the splines of the propshaft and into the hub of the prop...as well as a new thrust washer?

HELP!!!!

you just need to get a solid hub insert from merc and slide it in no big deal at all.

Who do I get the solid insert from and how much should I expect to pay? Do I take the prop to a local prop shop and have them press the new insert in? Thanks guys!!!!

If it is a flo torq hub, the old one will slide out and the new one slides in.. NBD..

A new one will run ya 60 bucks....

You can get the hub kit at any Mercury dealer, what you are looking for is a Flo-Torq II Solid Hub Kit
If you have a standard propshaft it is part
#835258Q 2
the list price for this kit is $71.40 this includes
12-835467 1 Forward thrust washer
850821Q12 Steel Drive sleeve
826074Q1 Aft Adapter
14-816629 Tab washer
11-827614 Prop nut
It will also come with instructions that will show you how it goes in the prop, it's an easy swap with the plastic hub.

If you don't have the standard propshaft but you have the Heavy duty 1 1/4" shaft the part number for the kit is 840389K06 it lists for $138.05

Good luck,
Caleb
