Try Southwest to Jax, Birmingham, or New Orleans and drive in from there.
They have a sale going on.

Ft. Walton is about the cheepest ticket you can get if you want to fly somewhere close by but they are ussualy outragoues. Jacksonville on southwest is the best option is about a 2 1/2 hour druve from there give or take. Southwest needs to start flying into that part of the panhandle.

New Orleans is 308 miles according to my computer
Jax is 280
Birmingham is 260 but you have to come down US 231 from Montgomery and it is a pain...takes about 5 to 5 1/2 hours
I've done it each way and Jax is your best bet.. 3.5 to 4 hours

I spent many a day on that marina when I was a kid. My best freind and I rode our bikes down there and fished. Panama City is my favorite place in the world.
