I thought tie down straps were mandatory equipment in most states? I think they are in MD anyway.

You see the pictures and you think that will never happen to me. I run two on the front and tie down the transom on the long trips. Otherwise just the two in the front.

Who still doesn't use straps or chains, is what I would like to know. Could anyone give a good enough answer why NOT to use them?
